The turquoise on the kitchen wall has gone, almost hidden under two coats of white paint.
Everywhere else had just had the first coat of white done when I took these photos on Monday night. But I've not been able to get back to the annexe since as I am currently completely out of action with a bad back. Struggling to get in the car on Monday to go and see the start of the decorating was a bad idea as Alan had to make an emergency stop at one of the roundabouts on the way to the house and the resulting jolt has put me back by about two days ... OUCH!!
Oh, and the blue of the bedroom had also had two coats and was very well hidden.
It was good to go and see it all, and I can't wait to get back when I am able to because by tonight all the painting should be done.
And they might even have my bedroom feature wall wallpapered.
It took a lot of choosing to finally get to this Laura Ashley design, but I'm happy with my final choice, and luckily with my ceiling being so low and the room so small I only needed two rolls. One of which will hardly be used so I have lots of ideas for the remainder of it. 😃
Debby asked about the oil recommended by our joiner and it turned out it was Linseed Oil that he recommended for the raw wood of the new doors.
And talking of old pieces ... I have two lovely pieces of furniture currently cluttering up the hallway here at the flat, one large and one small. I'll try and get a photo of them and give you a little peak at my bargains of the year. I love them 💖
Sue xx
So sorry about your back - please look after yourself.
ReplyDeleteMy apt. is all white so I do approve of your choice and I must say - that wallpaper is quite lovely and will be very restful in your bedroom. You are getting very close to being able to move in!
I find green a very calming colour.
ReplyDeleteOuch! I hope your back is soon on the mend. It's great seeing progress, and the wallpaper is lovely. Morag xx
ReplyDeleteLooking good at the flat and I too love that wallpaper, but then I am a Laura Ashley fan. Hope the back gets better soon - it is always the case like sod's law that when you are wanting to get on your back suddenly goes. I am surprised mine has stood up to all the gardening I have done this week! Take care.
ReplyDeletePS:I will wave at you as we pass on the M6 later today on our way home from bonnie Scotland. Weather is absolutely gorgeous up here it will be hard to leave.
It's all coming together nicely. Love the Laura Ashley wallpaper, very delicate print.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your back and hope it improves quickly. Know it has to be frustrating with so much you want to do...not to mention dealing with the pain. All the white paint has certainly brightened up the spaces and the LA print will be a lovely counterpoint for the bedroom wall. Coming together nicely!
ReplyDeleteYou poor soul, Sue, back pain is not nice at all and it always 'goes' when you need to be active. Hope you feel better very soon. Sending (((hugs)))
ReplyDeleteThe Laura Ashley wallpaper is really lovely, a good choice :)
Hope your back doesn't bother you too long. I know you have to be anxious to get going.
ReplyDeleteProgress is being made and it looks very nice!
Ouch - sending good wishes for a quickly healing back.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the wallpaper, it is just beautiful. Great choice.
xx
I hope your back feels better soon, Sue. Back pain... one of the worst pains to have! I use Tung oil on all my wood projects. Let me know how the flaxseed (otherwise known as linseed) oil works for you. ~Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteLovely wallpaper. Be pleased YOU are not the one hanging it as my daughter said the LA wallpaper is very thin and difficult to hang.
ReplyDeleteI hope that your back is better soon. I am booked into the chiro next week with mine!
I'm sorry to hear about your back. I've had back problems and know how painful they can be. Your new home is shaping up nicely. The white will give you a perfect background for decorating while still keeping things light and airy. That Laura Ashley wallpaper is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOh dear, so sorry about your back...things are looking lovely.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your bargain bits of furniture. Progress looks great. Take care of your back.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the name of the oil. I threw out my back twice and it was terrible. But after 24 hours on prescription anti-inflammatory I was so much improved that I could have danced for joy...gingerly of course. Take care. Ps I love your wall paper...and generally I am not a wallpaper fan.
ReplyDeleteYour poor back - I "lost" the better part of a week recently from doing too much painting and then barely being able to move . . .
ReplyDeleteMuch relief was gained when Viv (Where the Journey Takes Me) reminded me about Somatic exercises: small, almost imperceptible movements at first, but make SO MUCH DIFFERENCE. I like the 'Essential Somatics' channel on YouTube.
Nothing seems more painful than back pain. Friends have experienced disc and muscle spasm back pain. I've seen the excruciating pain. I hope you can resolve this in a day or two. As Jayne mentions, exercise can help. You are making great progress on your new home. Take care Sue.
ReplyDeleteOuch! That sounds painful. I hope you're feeling better now. X
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your back Sue. Hope you mend quickly as it looks like you will be having a very busy time ahead. The white looks lovely and so do the doors. It really is going to look amazing and I am so looking forward to seeing the finished results. Your bedroom wallpaper is absolutely beautiful - you have a very good eye and very good taste. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about your back Sue, hope you will feel 100% very soon♥ I really love the wallpaper and cannot wait to see your bedroom finished, well in fact the whole tiny house, very exciting:) xx
ReplyDeleteIt's going to have a beautifully calm and restful atmosphere, and your Laura Ashley wallpaper is lovely, especially the little birds. Hope your back is on the mend; I know what it's like - you have my sympathy, and it's SO frustrating when you want to be doing things!
ReplyDeleteOh, is my face red! I did not realize until today that you had started blogging again. The last post I read in January (!) had mentioned you taking a break and I didn't know you had returned in March. So I have spent a bit of my time this morning catching up on March, April, and May and you have certainly been busy with moving and redecorating! You do sound so happy and excited - I am glad it is all working out for you! Oh, and I like my toast #3!! Glad to be back with you!
ReplyDeleteHiya, yes I only ended up having a month off and came back re-invigorated and raring to go. It would seem I have too much to say to stay away for long ;-)
DeleteNice to have you back, just in time for really tiny living.
