My new wardrobe arrived the other day.
I had ticked the box for 'All Day Delivery' which meant delivery was free of charge ... how was I to know that I would be first on the list and it would arrive in two huge boxes at 6.35am!!
I got a text the day before to tell me my delivery slot was 6.30am - 8.30am, which usually would not have been a problem but obviously as I don't live in the annexe yet, it meant setting my alarm for 5am to give myself enough time for me to drink two cups of coffee and let my painkilling tablets kick in before I took a slow drive on deserted streets to get to the new place.
The next day Alan assembled it for me, and he was so pleased with it he's ordering the same one for his house as it matches the king-sized bed and bedside tables that we already have. With this one the drawer section was already put together in one large box and the upper section was in five parts ... top, sides, back and doors already fitted into their frame with the hinges already on, all very carefully packed for a safe delivery. It made for a relatively easy assembly job, which would have been even easier if I had been able to help, but the early start and travelling the day before had finished me off for the weekend 😓
Anyway I love it, and it matches the doors and the curtain poles perfectly so I have a very co-ordinated bedroom developing.
I've been asked a couple of times for a walk-through film when the annexe is all finished and I will do that I promise, but yesterday while we were there checking out Alan's decorating progress I decided to do a quick video tour of the annexe while I waited for him.
For those of you who need it -
It's a bit rushed as Alan burst in at the end to ask me a question and I instinctively stopped filming but it does give you a little glimpse of things as they are now.

I just love real wood, it's always been my 'thing'. Yep, most definintely ... us Sues have good taste :-)

DeleteThat is early :) Still, it's better than having to hang around all day. It's all coming along beautifully and I just love that it gets so much natural light. X
ReplyDeleteWith one wall of both the bedroom and living room being almost totally glass (there are double French doors and windows in both) it makes for lots of natural light ... I must make sure to get good blackout curtains for the bedroom!!

DeleteYour annexe is looking great, and I love your wardrobe! We had fitted oak wardrobes made for us by a friend soon after we got married. They are beautiful, and give loads of storage space...but on the downside, if I move, they won't come with me :(

Yes we've had fitted wardrobes in our last three homes, so new wardrobes are vital this time around.
DeleteAre you & Alan married but now have decided to live in separate houses? If so, I'll be jumping for joy at finally having camaraderie with someone else, as that is our living situation too. Our houses are "separate" but look connected on the outside. I live in the apartment we built for my mom back in 2001 (she died in 2008). The houses are connected by a doorway but my mom's side (which is mine now) is 1,000 sq. ft. and has its own kitchen, living room, bedroom, bathroom & laundry room... with an 8x22 three season porch out back. I love my little abode!! :) Anyway, I've never heard of anyone else doing as my husband and I do.... that's why I'm excited if that's what you & Alan do too. DeleteOh My Gosh - I have SERIOUS sideboard envy! That sideboard is gor-jus , and matches the other wood in your lovely nest. It's going to be light and airy when it's finished, and definitely worth the effort you've put in, and the wait. I did blackout curtains for our bedroom, but I wish I'd made them 6 inches bigger on each side, they have to be adjusted carefully to really exclude the light, which is a nuisance. I hope the physio gives you some relief, that back sounds really bad.
ReplyDeleteHaha, yes it's lovely isn't it. That's why I did a whole blog post about finding it. Unfortunately I can't take the curtains 6 inches wider than the windows as they go right up to the edge of the walls, but I'll do my best to exclude light in the bedroom. Some fabric Velcro should work if necessary 😀

ReplyDeleteHe did what he could to help, it's awkward when I can't lie down, and showed me some twisting exercises to try and relieve it more until my next visit next week.😳

It is really coming together and looks so fresh and light. I’m sure you’ve said previously, but how big is your part and how does it compare in size to the van? In the video it really looks spacious.
ReplyDeleteThe annexe is approx 336sq ft which makes it smaller than the van, which was 432sq ft.
DeleteI think with it all being nice and white now, and with the ceilings in the living room and bedroom being full height into the roof space it feels larger.
If this is too personal please remove but why are you living in an annexe and your husband living in the house? I've read your whole blog but I can't quite figure that be out... Your new home is looking lovely though. I'm glad you've still got your old touches like ya jam cupboard and nanas chair i much prefer vintage to completely modern. Looking forward to seeing it completely done garden and all.... If you'll let ya followers see it. Did you take your tin bath with you for planting something in? Cx
ReplyDeleteI've answered this question numerous times, but basically it's just as I answered above, we have always had a degree of living separately due to Alan's job. It suits us both and we are used to it as we are both very independent people. However, this is the first time we will be living right next to each other full time instead of at opposite ends of the country, or as it was for the past couple of years in different countries. 🙂
DeleteOh, I forgot to add, I couldn't take the large tin bath with me as it's bottom had fallen through so it couldn't be moved. I left it full of herbs for the new folks who bought our smallholding. But I have got my small tin bath that was with me at the Van 😀

I've been looking everywhere for an affordable one to plant herbs in no success yet but I'll keep looking. Also I realise I think your only about 1hr from where I live now. I love reading your blog and you've inspired me to do a challenge for myself. I'm starting with #mimsgame the decluttering challenge. Then I may move on to an eating out of cupboards challenge 😊

DeleteOld tin baths are hard to find, I scoured a lot of car boots etc until I eventually found mine at GB Antiques Centre in Lancaster. Challenges are brilliant for focusing your mind on things aren't they. Good luck with yours. 😀
No dont worry I understand what it's like to be in a lot of pain everyday it sucks big time! I hope you can get some relief though soon. Oh i havent heard of there before I'll have a Google thanks. Have you ever been to by gone times? I definitely need somthing to focus me I've been all over the place recently and it's driving me mad. Hopefully this challenge will help 👍😊
