Sugar solution for exhausted bees - 1/2 teaspoon sugar and a couple of drops of water

Never give them honey

  1. We rescued a bee from our pond last year and put it on a plant in the sunshine. I didn't think it was going to make it but very very slowly it started to move around, then shook one wing then eventually the other and stretched them out to dry. After about twenty minutes, it flew away over the hedge.

  2. When the doors were all open last week ( was that summer?) a very large bumble flew in and onto kitchen window. I did the cup and paper thing and took him out side and I swear the same one came back the next day and then blow me down back again the next day too. Very odd

  3. I even put worms back under the soil when digging on my allotment! I gave a bedraggled bee some sugar/water last year. It's wonderful to watch them recover and fly off. We had doors and windows open for a couple of days, but now it's back to battening down the hatches due to torrential rain. I'm sitting typing this and it's literally lashing the window..hey ho.
