Just a Snuggly Pug on a Rug

Just a snuggly Pug keeping cosy on a horrible cold, wet morning.

Don't panic Suky won't be cooked by lunchtime ... it's just the flame effect that's switched on on the electric fire.  It's funny how a little bit of pretend flickering flame helps to make you feel cosier on a shitty weather day.

  1. Suky looks like she's found the best place and intends to stay there as long as possible! I do like your lamp, is it a crystal one?

    1. It's a salt lamp. Gives a lovely glow and refreshes the air 😄

    1. I do think sometimes she pretends to be asleep so I don't take her out for a walk on a yucky day :-)

  3. How our minds play tricks. We had a very real looking flame effect fire and I loved putting it on just for the glow. I hope the house in Wales is coming along well.

    1. I find myself watching it a lot, even though it just scrolls through a very short little flicker routine!!

  4. Suky looks very comfortable. I am hoping to find something similar to yours for our living room.

    God bless.

  5. I said to my mum yesterday that a fire glow makes you feel warm even if there is no heat from it! The gas people have condemmed her gas fire so we are getting her a new electric one and I mentioned the one we liked has a glow only function on it. She didn't know how that could be an advantage but I assured her it would be! I'll show her Suky snuggled in front of your 'hot' fire to convince her now lol. x

    1. Be careful … she might decide she needs a snuggly Pug too ;-)

    1. Most definitely, although she surprised me today as I arrived at Mum's house she waded through a deep puddle in the street to get to a lady she thought was Granny …. and she hates getting her feet wet. She must love her Granny :-)

  7. What a perfect photo, I had to show it to my hubby and gave him a running commentary and was pointing out all the things I loved (poor thing) how it was such a lovely setting of course I so love Suky, the mantle, the coal effect fire, the salt lamp (same as ours) Mother-in-Law tongue plant, sigh contentment at it best. With a few Christmas decorations it would make a gorgeous Christmas card♥ xx I've never been a fan of MIL tongue plants, we have heaps growing in our new garden then a couple of weeks ago we went to our local Bunnings (like B&Q) and they were selling these plants for $33 per plant couldn't believe it. They are considered an environmental weed here in Queensland:( I've put a couple in the cottage now:)

    1. Haha, your poor husband ... that's something Alan would sit and listen to from me and just sit there with a half smile on his face most likely thinking 'Sue's lost it again!!'

I searched high and low for a good sized MIL Tongue plant, they are brilliant for not needing too much water, great for when we have to leave the Van for any length of time and for cleansing the air. I think mine cost around £20 which I thought was pretty good value, it was quite a bit smaller six months ago when I got it and has since acquired brand new leaf.

I also have a parlour palm on the table and that little plant on the mantlepiece, which is a little succulent but I don't know what variety it is. They all seem to cope quite well with the fluctuating temperatures and intermittent watering.

  8. Suky looks so snug and comfy...Sorry your weather's bad. A good book and a cup of tea or coffee help that for me.

    1. The small bed was actually bought for Charley our little Chug and was going to be put away when she died, but Suky claimed it. She seems to like that she touches all the sides, I guess it feels cosy. She sleeps in a bigger bed at night either on her own or snuggled up to Mavis when she's here.

I've used the day to plan for next weeks new Challenge over on my other blog, it's been good to have the time to plan things out properly.

    1. Thank you. The mantle display is a pretty static one, everything is useful to me … and beautiful to my eyes. When the fresh flowers die off I replace them with a sprig of artificial Lavender until I find a bargain bunch of simple flowers that I want. The lavender lives in the bedroom vase while it is banished from the mantle.

The larger wooden box holds replacement nightlights and candles, and the smaller one on top is an antique money box which holds small change, which is mostly used for the laundrette.
