My first Advent calendar arrived one day last week.
It's one of two brilliant vegan sweet companies that I frequent a little bit more than perhaps I should😎 ... but this one does do a wonderful range of proper food too with delivery straight to your door.
I decided to avoid getting a chocolate one this year as I have quite a lot of chocolate in the fridge at the moment which should last me to Christmas and beyond. Instead I went for this one. but I didn't realise for some reason ... I should have seeing the shape of the finished article ... that it would be a self assembly affair.
Oh well, that's a little cardboard Christmas Tree that I have to build, and lots of little boxes!!
Oh and the added thing of actually knowing what is in each little box ... I'm definitely missing the surprise element with this one then 😄😆
The Shepherdess Pie that I started making on the last post went down a treat, and I made myself enough mashed potato to fill a delicious Potato Pasty that I had for my lunch yesterday.
Does anyone else love mashed potatoes (and sweets) as much as I do?
Sue xx
Mash yes (too much, probably) - sweets no, I'm not really a sweet person!
ReplyDeleteIs there such a thing as 'too much' mashed potatoes. 😃🤣
DeleteNo such thing as too much mash.
DeleteChocolate and books = Yes
ReplyDeleteSweets and mashed potato = a big No from me!
Chocolate books sweets and mash for me 😉😂
DeleteSue, you are very restrained 😀
DeleteCx ... you're nowhere near as restrained as Sue. 🤣🤣
DeleteI can easily forgo mashed potato. I still remember my mum's lumpy grey efforts (sorry mum!) Sweets though - ah, that's another matter!
ReplyDeleteOh I do hate lumpy mash, and overcooked grey mash is even worse. 😟
DeleteMash and cheese, my go to comfort food!
ReplyDeleteYes I need to add some grated cheese to mine don't I. 😀
DeleteThey are both lovely, for sure. xx
ReplyDeleteGosh yes 😍
DeleteLooks like a fun DYI project....you could ask Allanto fill the little boxes.
ReplyDeleteNow that's a good idea. I'll build them and he can fill them. 😀
DeleteCheese and potato pie...yum. lots of creamy mash with grated cheese stirred in and grilled. Naughty but very nice 😊
ReplyDeleteRe the Christmas tree project...I'm with Margaret for asking Alan to fill the little boxes to create a small surprise element!
I'm definitely going to add some cheese, and perhaps onion too, to my next potato pie.
DeleteI think I will ask Alan to fill the little boxes. 😃
I am a potato fan but sweets not so - I would always go for chocolate rather than boiled sweets. I often do more mash then we need so I have left overs for lunch nextv day then use them to top some baked beans - sprinkle with grated cheese on top and slices of tomato then grilled so it is bubbly and brown.
ReplyDeleteNow that sounds nice, and I have half a tin of beans in the fridge. 😃
DeleteMy kids favourite was sauted bacon, carrot, celery then tip in baked beans, heat up , cover with grated cheese and under grill, till golden. Great camping meal minus cheese top.
DeleteLove mashed potato♥ My sister had a "sweet stall" in her local Market Hall and on trips over I would bring heaps of sweets back. The last few visits I didn't bring any back, over the years I've lost my love for sweets:(
ReplyDeleteWe have a lovely old fashioned sweet stall in our little indoor market. She's just really moved with the times and you can now take your own containers to fill. 😃
DeleteI love potatoes in every form. Mash is best but I find that I will eat much more potatoes if they are mashed than if the are just boiled or fried. I never have leftover mash!
ReplyDeleteIf I could somehow combine mash and chocolate - that would be heaven!
A bowl of hot, buttery mash and a fork is better than popcorn while you sit and watch a film.
DeleteI somehow can't imagine mash AND chocolate together. 🤣🤣
I enjoy seeing your Advent calendars each year. It was from you that I learned about the Jacquie Lawson electronic Advent calendar. Last year I ordered one for myself and one for my daughter-in-law and we both enjoyed them throughout the Christmas holidays! I plan on doing the same this year. Thank you again for telling me about them!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I love mashed potatoes and sweets!
Yes, I'll be doing the same this year. I still play the games on last year's version occasionally. 😀
DeleteI'm a bit weird!! I don't like anything that is grown underground - so potatoes, carrots, swede, turnip, parsnip ( unless roasted ) are a no no from me and I don't like chocolate or sweets very much either. Now crisps, dips and wine are another matter.................... :-) Fiona x
ReplyDeleteI agree ... you're weird, hahaha, but crisps and wine sound like a sort of balanced diet ;-)
DeleteI adore mashed potato, unfortunately it's a diabetic trigger and I cannot remember the last time I had any.
ReplyDeleteShame about your advent calendar - I looked on the website and there didn't seem to be any indication that it was a DIY kit.
I should have guessed with it being shown in a flat box, it was a real 'duh!!' moment when it arrived ;-)
DeleteNot really a mashed potato lover. I would rather have pasta, or rice.
ReplyDeleteLove the DIY kit.
God bless.
I am obviously a carb fiend because I love pasta and rice too ... not all on the same plate of course, well not usually!
