So is anyone that reads my blog posts going to have a go at Veganuary this January?
It doesn't matter if you are an omnivore, a pescatarian, a vegetarian or a vegan ... anyone who fancies a Challenge in January can sign up.
By signing up even if you are vegan it gives the Veganuary team a good indication of the number of vegans there are in the countries that take part. After the month is over there is a short questionnaire to fill in and it really does help to compile figures of the various countries eating habits.
Trying a vegan lifestyle is soooo much easier these days and it's even easier when I first signed up in 2017, and then it wasn't that bad compared to a decade ago. There is now so much choice of vegan ready-made food in the shops, as well as the vegan food that everyone who mocks vegans seems to forget that they eat too ... fruits, vegetables, bread, pasta, rice, biscuits, snacks, dark chocolate etc etc
If you are interested you can sign up here: Veganuary
When you sign up you get a free downloadable celebrity cookbook full of really useful recipes. All through January you will get a daily email with hints, tips, news and recipes and basically just lots of help and advice. There is also a brilliant Facebook group that you can join with lots of like-minded people and vegans of all ages and experience.
One of the reasons I ask is because I have just treated myself to a new subscription to Vegan Life magazine, and they have accidentally sent me two copies of the December issue.
It also comes with a free 2020 calendar.
If you are interested in veganism or are already a vegan and would like to have one of my copies please leave a comment below and if there is more than one comment by this time tomorrow I will do a little draw and send the spare copy and it's accompanying calendar to the lucky name picked out of the hat. I'd just like it to go to someone who would find it useful.
Sue xx
Hi Sue, I'm a New Follower but I'd love to be in the running for the magazine. Already Veggie and have cut out milk just need to get rid of the cheese which is the difficult one, Thanks, Rachel
ReplyDeleteThanks for Following ... your name is in the hat ... if I can find a hat!!
DeleteHi Sue , my daughter has embraced the Vegan life and I am just stating to learn al about this way of life so would like any tips and a calender would be great , many thanks

Good for her, and your support will be brilliant :-)
DeleteI was already a vegetarian by choice but now due to adverse reactions to many foods I'm vegan, gluten free and nut free. I need to find recipes that are not full of sugar and fat because I also need to lose weight for the sake of my arthritic knees.
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly how I became vegan. I was a vegetarian that developed a strong intolerance to dairy, with only eggs left to ditch and our hens all but stopped laying it was a relatively easy choice :-)
DeleteHi Sue - I’ve just recently embraced vegan life and will be signing up to veganuary. Currently trying to find ways to combine me being vegan with being married to a man that won’t eat vegetables! Would love to be considered for your giveaway I need all the ideas I can get ☺️ Susan xx
ReplyDeleteI'm lucky in that my carnivorous man loves his veggies and all things salady. I think curries might be a good idea to give your bloke some vegan goodness every now and then. You could whizz up most of the veggies ... and he can pick out any he spots if he chooses too ;-)
DeleteYou're entered into the draw :-)
hi sue, my daughter has become vegan to try and manage IBS symptoms, she would be interested in your magazine and i love the piggy snout picture on the calendar, from julie
ReplyDeleteI've just finished doing The Happy Gut Course with the Happy Pear boys Stephen and David Flynn, it was full of recipes that are good for people with IBS. Look on their YouTube channel and in their recipe books for suitable things for your daughter to try.
DeleteI'm planning on more vegetarian meals in 2020 (I've been watching Jamie Oliver's new program and I'm very impressed by many of the recipes) - but I'm afraid that going vegan is a step too far for me.
ReplyDeleteI have tried vegan food but haven't enjoyed most of what has been on offer. I am also soy sensitive and have allergies to many additives - and much of the new processed vegan foods contain some of these additives so not an option.
I am looking at more vegetarian meals because 1) - I enjoy vegetables 2) - it's cheaper than meat and 3) - I am looking to try new recipes. I have no aversion to meat - and believe that we are supposed to be omnivores - but am willing to make some compromises.
Jamie's latest series has been really good for veg lovers hasn't it. I purposefully try not to eat too much food with soy as a main ingredient. But the majority of true vegan foods, the fruits and vegetables, rices and pastas are the best and cheapest way forward. The processed foods are good for days when you are too busy or not in the mood for cooking or just if you are missing foods you used to have, a burger or fish finger for instance or some cheese for the top of your pasta. I eat mostly coconut oil based cheeses rather than the soy based ones and stick to almond or rice milk for my cereals or for cooking with.
DeleteHi Sue, I would also like to have more meat free days. We have booked an unexpected trip to the UK and leave on 21st Dec so I will be home for Christmas and I cannot wait for some cold weather♥ Hope all is going well at the house in Wales:) Linda xx
ReplyDeleteOoh, how lovely that you will be back in the UK for Christmas, I hope you have a lovely time with family.
DeleteThe Welsh house is 'almost' back to normal now and we are in a flurry of selling on Facebook Marketplace to tidy up things ready for putting it on the market early next year.
Thanks Sue, we are very excited to see my family although it comes at a cost leaving my family here:( Great to hear you are doing well selling items and the house will soon be on the Market, wishing you a quick and easy sale:) Linda xx
DeleteI won't be doing the month but I am cutting some meat out of m,y diet and making sure I have more vegetarian days generally.

I love looking out for all the extra vegan options that appear in cafes and in the supermarkets in support of Veganuary. Having more vegetarian days is definitely a good thing, both for your health and your purse.
DeleteHi Sue - I am tempted to try a do Veganuary. I am a long-time vegetarian but have never taken it further before. Seems like it would be much easier to do than in previous years for sure. I have been a vegetarian for more than 30 years and can't quite believe how mainstream it is these days :)
ReplyDeleteOoh ... have a go :-)
DeleteYes it would be so much easier now than it would have been even a couple of years ago. So many organisations, cafes and food shops now join in with extra foods for the month and sometimes they stay on board after. I was a vegetarian for years until I realised that there is as much, if not more, cruelty in the dairy and egg industries than in any of the meat producing ones.
I love your tentative steps into blogland, please keep your lovely writing flowing when you are able to. You have been entered into the draw :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the comments, I am now in the process of doing the draw 😃
