By the Window

I love to pore over a painting or image with lots of detail.

I can't find out who painted this one and in the course of looking came across this one by Salvador Dali -

... which draws you in in a completely different way and is very thought provoking.

Aren't we lucky in this age of computers that we can pull up such lovely images to get us thinking.

  1. They both immediately ask me questions, sometimes similar and sometimes opposite - who are they, why are they alone, that sort of thing. I like that about a painting and rarely get it much from some of the Old Masters (probably because I don't know enough).

  3. The first one has a touch of Impressionism about it but is probably a little later. Childe Hassam in style. Love it. The 2nd one is very unlike any Dali painting I've ever seen!

  4. The 'Master of the Sun' painter of the first beautiful and detailed one is the Russian artist Sergei Arsenievich Vinogradov ( 1869 - 1938).
    I love (t)his style.

    4. I just love when you toss a question out into the interwebs and it comes back to you answered.

  5. I'm not usually a fan of Salvador Dali but his 'Woman at the Window' draws me in - it could be me, looking longingly out to sea.
