Yes, very quiet.
I want to read a good book ... and yes this is proving itself to be a very good book ... drink black coffee and eat simple food.
After a week of feeling pretty wiped out with an almost flu-like cold, all of the above seem very appealing. I've added in occasional forays out into the fresh riverside air for Puggy comfort breaks and human leg stretching, but not much more will be accomplished this week.
That's my prescription for myself.
What's yours for when you're feeling under the weather?
Sue xx
I'm the same, although I take a splash of milk in my coffee.
ReplyDeleteI've had a busy weekend and feeling a little run down, so looking forward to some quiet today. X
Yours is absolutely the most perfect prescription for when one is under the weather!
ReplyDeleteGoing to our favourite beach....walking along the beach with the dog and then back down through the little friendly holiday camp, stopping off at the café for a latte on the way back to the car. Or, if it's bad weather, sitting in the car watching the waves crashing up on the beach, with a flask of coffee and slice of homemade cake brought from home.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely calm week, Sue, and I hope you feel better for it.
My couch - with a good book and a cup of strong black tea - with milk. If I feel up to it a short walk along the river across the street from my apt. - it's usually fairly quiet during the week with just the dog walkers and kayakers so no need to stop and converse if I don't feel like it. Lots of quiet time.
ReplyDeleteI agree, the couch with a good book or time to catch up on a series like Poldark. I also like to get a grocery delivery if I am sick as I don't want to go out and pass on germs, so will get lots of fruit juice, tissues, soup and bread delivered and stay in my comfy clothes at home.
ReplyDeleteA good book, a cup of tea and a couple of crumpets with good butter (enough butter to fill the holes)
ReplyDeleteSimilar for me too Sue, a good book read on the sofa with a fleecy blanket over my legs if it's cold, a cool breeze from the open window if it's warm. Oh and a hot mug of tea with one sugar. No conversation, no TV just peace and quiet. Bliss. Hope you feel better soon x
ReplyDeleteI was poorly last Saturday and for once I listened to my body and rested up. It seems to have been a 24 hour thing (but that was 24 hours too long!!) I used to fight against illness, but now I rest, and read a soothing book - whatever my mind can cope with. (It has recently been yet another re-reading of The Wind in the Ash Tree by Jeannine McMullen, which reminds me of why we moved to Wales.)
ReplyDeleteI hope you make a full recovery now.
Your prescription is spot on. I've had a really busy weekend the the whole family camping, making and cycling. I didn't sleep well the first night due to the stormy weather. On the second night there was a very loud dog snoring in the next tent! Today I have slept for England. Looking forward to an early night.
ReplyDeleteGood prescription. I like a good book and a cuddle with a cat and a blanket.
ReplyDeleteA good book or good film, frothy coffee, cuddled up on the settee. If I'm feeling down in the dumps, I'll drive to a beach, sit watching and listening to the sea and perhaps read my book too. The sea always lifts my spirits:)
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I hear you.
ReplyDeleteI spent the whole day last Friday out on my new back deck, the weather was 100% Spring and I avoided the guilt nagging thoughts of should be up and doing.....I read a bit and knitted a lot and appreciated the lovely warmth. Not feeling poorly, just a lazy day of appreciating many things.
Sounds ideal
ReplyDeleteSnuggling into a warm shawl or knitted blanket. Copious amounts of lemon tea or hot chocolate is my go to when I have a cold or just not feeling like myself.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I get my favourite fleece out and snuggle into it on my comfy chair with a few foody magazines - and fall asleep within minutes!

Be kind to myself: don't feel guilty about letting things slide. Wrap up in a snugly blanket with a good book
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like the perfect prescription to me! I hope you it works and you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteI like to take a hot bath in lavender tea, sit out on the porch, and get extra sleep.
