What if all I want is a small, slow, simple life?
What if I am most happy in the space of in-between?
Where calm lives.
What if all I need are minimal things?
That make simple foods.
A snugly bed.
Spaces to explore.
The world outside our doors is a mixed-up place at the moment.
The bad seems to outshine the good on a daily basis.
But you must look for the good
You must always look for the good.
The good is in the simple day to day life that calms the soul and keeps us on an even keel.
It's in the people that rush to help when temporarily bad swamps good.
It's in the smiles you see if you stop for a moment as you hustle and bustle about your business.
It's in the happy faces of the moment.
We need to take the time to live in the moment.
Our lives are made up of moments.
Many, many moments.
Some good, some bad ...
... but all ours.
Let's cherish our moments.
Very true! When the outside world gets to be too much I concentrate on friends and family - places where I can make a difference. This past week I've been helping some wonderful women at my church who have been going out of their way to help a couple of refugee families that we "look after". These women collected food, delivered children to camp, took two groups to get government paperwork sorted and acted as translators - all at their own cost of time and money. The antics of various politicians may offend and terrify us but there are still good people out there quietly going about their lives and making a difference in the lives of others. Knowing that helps to calm me and allow me to carry on.ReplyDelete
Beautiful post, It's all I want I really do know that, I am sick of rushing around like a headless chicken at the moment trying to save money/make money but it has to be done so hopefully next year the proper retirement plan will be put into action and we can be living our"smaller & simpler life".xReplyDelete
You won't find me above now as I changed the name of my blog and foolishly in error changed the blog address so can't get it back.Delete
Your life and attitude are what I aspire to, Sue. I know I keep saying it, but I WILL have that simple life one day! I've told husband that this winter, when the weather's bad and not fit for going out, we will concentrate on decluttering each room, doing a deep clean, rearranging furniture and sorting everything out. He's on board, so that's a good start.ReplyDelete
sounds good to me!ReplyDelete
A beautiful post, Sue. I do try to live in the moment, but sometimes life is so busy. But I am trying....ReplyDelete
Lovely, lovely post. Thank you for this reminder.ReplyDelete
Wonderful post. I must remember to stop and breathe more often.ReplyDelete
Indeed, living in the Moment and being Mindful to enjoy it is what keeps us more centered and calm.ReplyDelete
I love this post so much and keep coming back every day to re-read it! Thank you, Sue!xReplyDelete
Haha ... I will be back honest, it's just a busy weekend sorry. New post up on my other blog this morning though 😃Delete
This post is so very true, especially the part of living in the moment. Ironically I was only talking to my husband about being 'In The Moment' over the weekend. I wondered why we didn't do it years ago. We should all try and enjoy things when we are in a good moment, because such is life everything can change so quickly and unexpectedly.ReplyDelete
