Shopping

I was wandering around in Tesco the other day, having a break from dogs, computer work and well just general things at home.  It was just one of those leisurely mooches along the aisles, when you don't have to watch the clock and no one is waiting for you anywhere and I realised I don't really do that much shopping anymore except the food shop and even that is much less than usual.

I don't peruse the rails in clothes shops, and as  our Tesco is too small for clothes I don't even see any there.  Although rather weirdly they do get a rack of wet suits during the school Summer holidays … not that I've ever  been tempted!

I don't go out to window shop or just look for ideas or inspiration any more, mostly because I really don't need anything.  The other day Alan needed some new jeans ... he's lost so much weight since the start of the year he had to get some ... so we went out, and while my car was being serviced and MOT'd we bought him a pair jeans and a nice new blue checked shirt to go with them both from Marks and Sparks.  On the way past the Monsoon shop I was magnetically pulled in towards a lovely loose fitting Summer top on the front rail and he immediately offered to buy it for me, you know the way men do when they feel guilty buying clothes for themselves and seeing you empty handed … but I said no thanks.  It was nice, it was lovely in fact, but I really didn't need it.

We went and got a coffee instead in Debenhams …a  much more satisfying treat.

  1. What a healthy selection in your shopping trolley. You took that photo before you hit the biscuit aisle, didn’t you?😉🍪🍰🧁. Well done on your restraint in not getting the new top. The only thing I have bought in the last few weeks is a special occasion outfit for a wedding that will also be useful for my holiday. I only buy now if it is needed and is exactly right.

    1. Haha ... no I really don't visit the biscuit aisle. Alan is a Type 2 diabetic and I'm dairy intolerant so it's an aisle I don't need to go down

  2. That's a delicious looking trolley load. You showed great self restraint with the top - I fear I'd have fallen like a stone!

  3. I've only bought one jumper this year, on-line, and that was because I was given a voucher. I think many of us have realised that we have enough.

    1. I have bought a couple of tops this year, a jumper and a fleece ... much more useful than the top in Monsoon would have been.

  4. I've gone completely off shopping for clothes for myself. It used to be a hobby of mine, even browsing the internet looking at clothes. I'm now selling most of my excessive clothing on eBay and seeing the £££s build up just gives me more motivation. (I try to forget how much they cost me originally though!😊).

    1. That's a really good way to do it. I sold a lot of my excess clothing last year at the car boot sales we did

  5. Interesting, I recently realised much the same applies here. It is rather a lovely and liberating feeling, isn't it?

  6. I used to enjoy food shopping but not anymore. I'm in and out of the shop like grease lightening! I really have to be in the mood for clothes shopping.

    1. I do enjoy a mooch around various supermarkets occasionally, but like you say I really do have to be in the mood for clothes shopping ... and I am rarely in that mood 🥴

  7. I HATE shopping! Funnily enough my husband and I visited Chester a few weeks ago on our way to Wales and laughed as it was me sitting outside changing rooms while he tried things on which I then paid for. A bit of a reversal of traditional roles.

    1. That's exactly how we have been during the last few clothes shopping outings. I quite like sitting on the sofa outside the men's fitting rooms in M&S watching everyone else perusing the rails 😄

    2. I'd rather sit and watch than shop that's for sure!

  8. What a lovely selection of fresh healthy food, so many of us are now trying to do the right thing for the planet and our health.
Such a shame about all the damn packaging, wonder what would happen if we started leaving the packaging in the shop.......!😊

    1. I agree totally that it's not good, but in our case we use all the non-recyclable packaging to light the log burner each night, so at least nothing goes to landfill.

  9. A cart of lovely fresh and good for you food. Well done. I am afraid I just might have added some treats to my basket.

    God bless.
