It's all about the numbers ...

After the comments of the last few days I thought it might be interesting to find out the ages of my readers, especially the lovely ones who comment most days.

We seem to be on the same wavelength in lots of things.  I know that's usually the case when you find a blog that you like to read, but what I write about me really seems to be resonating with so many of you a lot of the time.

So I thought it was time for a little survey.

Lets start with me:

Here goes ...

I am 58 ... so yes, an experienced idiot  😉

In almost exactly one month I will be 59.

So I am born under the star sign of Aries, and from what I read I fit the bill perfectly.

Using the Chinese calendar as well I am an Aries Rat ... and I seem to fit that bill too!

Writing that always reminds me of a great guy called John that I met on Yahoo Personals.  His bio was worded ' Pisces Monkey seeks Aries Rat'.  I responded ... well you would wouldn't you!!

I met him wearing all black, he was also wearing all black. it broke the ice and got us chatting.  The first date we got on like a house on fire, he told me all about the astrological calendar and the Chinese horoscopes and years.  The second date was not so good ... he told me all about the astrological calendar and the Chinese horoscopes and years.

There was no third date!!

I am one year younger than Alan, my husband.

I was almost 5 years younger than my ex husband.

The biggest age gap I have had in a relationship was 17 years, the smallest was 6 months younger than me ... I ended it when the 'toyboy' jokes from him got too much!

Yes, I agree with this entirely.

You are as young as you feel.

And so, in my opinion, you really should live your life and forget your age.

So ... how old are you?

What is your star sign?

Do you believe in star signs ... I marvel at the accuracy sometimes but I take it all with a pinch of salt.

What is the gap between you and your beloved?

But remember ...

... you don't have to tell .

  1. I am Aries too and in less than a month I will be 64. I was born on a Saturday - working hard for a living.

Col was two years younger than me and my first husband was just one month older. I don't like old men!

Chinese horoscope is a goat - that's OK - I've kept goats - They are individual and useful creatures.

I think we all feel younger than we are. I suddenly cottoned onto the realisation that what you feel like in your head doesn't always match with the age you are on the outside when I reached my late thirties .... it was a shock.

  8. I'm 59, husband 68 - the age gap doesn't bother us, never has. Married when I was 23 and he was 32 and been happy together ever since. He's my soulmate. I'm a Scorpio, he's Capricorn, but I don't take much notice of the star sign stuff. People are often surprised to learn husband's age, he doesn't really look it - but men don't, do they?! My biological age doesn't match the age I am in my head and heart....I still think I'm 39 and have been ever since I was...well, 39!

    1. Alan was in the RN for 24 years, mostly during his first marriage. I love solitude, but if I didn't have to go to work, I don't think I would want to go anywhere at all. I would be quite happy living in the middle of nowhere (with my husband and animals of course). Anyway, I am 56 years old in May and a Gemini. Sometimes I think that suits me, but to be honest I don't really believe in the horoscope thing. I have been married for 33 years and my husband is 18 months younger than me. Sometimes in my head I still feel about 21 and then I remind myself I have a 31 year old son - where did all those years go??!! Really enjoying your 'Simple Life' blog - thanks.

    1. Lovely comment, thanks.

Yes I know what you mean. When I mention my eldest son's age I sometimes think 'wait ... how can I possibly have a son that is only six years younger than me'!! Yes, in my head I will be forever 44 :-)

  48. Hi Sue, sorry late to the party - again!!

I am 55, will be 56 in September, apparently a Rabbit in Chinese. Libra by birth date, but very strong Virgo tendencies at times, I think primarily as my father is definite Virgo.
Second husband is 4 and half years older than me, and Aries, first was 4 years and Sagittarius.

We have very 'alternative' lifestyle - sold our house, bought motorhome in 2011 initially to travel for 2 years but have never gone back to regular life. Still living mainly from our motorhome, we work on campsites in the summer, and sometimes a bit of temporary work in the autumn/winter but mainly like to be in warmer climes in the winter months. Both have absolute love of travel, and love the freedom our life gives us. (Not sure I have ever declared this before on a public forum!)

Like you Sue, our life is generally very simple but so rewarding.

    1. Yes, I've picked up a lot about your 'alternative lifestyle' on your comments on my various blogs over the years. I'm totally jealous, the level of freedom it gives you and being together is wonderful 🙂

  50. Loving this post, Sue (even if I am a day late reading it). I'm 55 (just had to work that out with a calculator - that's sad!) and Gemini. I've just read the typical traits of a Gemini - I think I was born under the wrong star sign because they are pretty much opposite to me! My husband is Aquarius but that doesn't seem to describe him very well either - so perhaps we are well matched oddities! I have loved reading your blogs but mostly as a woodworm So inspired by your new, simple life. Helen x

I was 38 for two years back in the day, so you're not the only one that loses track of time.

  51. I answered a few of your questions already on your next post but I will answer them again.

I am 63 and Harvey and I have been married 43 years. There is exactly 5 years 5 months and 5 days between us. Harvey is the older.

I am a Capricorn through and through.

    God bless.

  52. Another Aries over here! I'm 47 and my husband is a couple of years older. Together for 17 years and married for nearly 14. I'm used to being an older mother in the primary school playground and a older blogger among the money bloggers, but looks like I'm on the younger side of your readers.

  53. I am 62 years old, born on a Sunday .. a Virgo Monkey but don't have a clue as to what traits those are supposed to indicate. My husband of 41 years is 9 months older than me. We married the day after my 21st birthday. Planning retirement this year .. YEEHAW .. time to party with the grandbabies before they notice the sun doesn't shine from my backside. Enjoy your blogs! .. but rather chicken to comment.

We have been together since 2000, married in 2010.we have both been married before. First husband is referred to as Jeff to the 1st. I was 18 when I married him(1984). I am Canadian. I always joke with hubby that he is my retirement plan- he will still be working to keep me in the manner to which I am accustomed, lol

  55. Hi Sue,
I am 48 on the outside, and about 18 on the inside and a Sagittarius woman. My husband is almost 11 months older than me and a Pisces.
I have been drawn to the smaller simpler life for a long time, and am just starting on a journey of discovering who I really am rather than what society has shaped me to be. Its exciting and scary at the same time, my husband is on the journey with me too and I wouldn't want it any other way. Su x
