Ambling Into the New Year

I've ambled into the New Year slowly

When sorting out the fridge

And re-planting two planters

Takes you two days

You know you've slowed right down

I've simply decided not to be rushed

Not to be shamed into being busy

To be the version of me that I want to be

  1. 'Shamed into being busy' - yes!
How often have I pretended to look busy just to prove my worth?
One thing I was determined to change when I retired 4 months ago was to utterly and completely slow down every area of my life. Not only to spend more time on the things I want to do, but for the simple pleasure of not being rushed. Bliss.

We all should be doing the same.

    Thank you.

  3. May I please "grab" these illustrations? And use them, on my own blog? With a link back to you and this post, of course.

    I am struck by them...

Would like to introduce them, to Dear Readers who stop by my blog.

Again, with link back, to here, to where I came across them...

    Please and thank you.

  4. Wise words, we are so caught in in stuff, often meaningless stuff we miss out in what's important. I am being more selfish this year for sure, if I don't want to do something I wont.....end of.

  5. I came by your absolutely charming and beautiful blog by way of Coddlins and Creme. I was so enthralled with everything you shared.
I'm a 61 year old woman, medically retired and living out on the plains of Western Nebraska, U.S.. I enjoy slow, quiet living, recipes that are shared, and enjoy reading about others who are seeking solace and peace.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful corner of the world.

  6. Spending time being rather than doing is vastly underrated by so many people. They're the ones who are left speechless if I answer their questions of 'what are you doing today?/ what have you done?', with the answer 'as little as possible'.

    1. There seems to be pressure to constantly justify how we spend our time!

  7. I always seem to be needing to do something just to say I actually did. I need to learn to "be" rather than do. Thanks so much for this reminder.

    God bless.

  8. I find it a crazy world in which we are encouraged to be busy busy busy and always under pressure and have to take courses such as mindfulness to teach us how to slow down. x
