Over on my other blog there is the start of a brand new Challenge.
Now, since that blog has lain dormant since April of 2021 that is going to surprise anyone who might still have it on their sidebar. But hopefully it is a nice surprise. 😀
Anyway it is the first day and the introduction to The Eat for £3.50 a Week Challenge.
HERE's a link to the first day.
I've had some exciting post this week, seemingly my birthday is going to be all about cake this year. 🎂
First I got a card and a reminder from Booths that I can claim a free slice of cake if I show my card and buy a cup of coffee on my birthday, or for up to six days after ... nice.
Then I got a letter from Dobbies to say that I can have two free coffees and two slices of cake or two scones so I can celebrate my birthday with a friend ... and I think we all know who I'll choose. Say scones and Alan will be there like a shot. 😄
It will be a good way to round off a cut price Challenge and a very good way to celebrate my birthday.

£3.50 - that's a tough one! Makes my experiment look like luxury spending!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your cake and coffee
What, your luxury value range ... ;-)
DeleteYou did really well, it's good trying out some of the cheaper stuff isn't it. There are some nice things lurking amongst some not so good, as you found out.
I love that you give the money you have saved to the foodbank. Enjoy your little free treats. Catriona
ReplyDeleteI'm saving the treats until closer to my birthday ... 19th ... something to look forward to. :-)
DeleteOoh, cake and coffee out - twice - for birthday treats. Just what I would choose.
ReplyDeleteI know ... it might develop into a habit. ;-)
DeleteCoffee and cake sound fabulous. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of people still have the other blog on their side bar. I'm looking forward to seeing how it goes. xx
I was surprised when I saw it was two years ago when I last posted on there. How time flies.
DeleteWell you do like a challenge don’t you!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like it will push your ingenuity and the things you learnt from your many previous challenges the limit, wishing you the best of luck and I’m sure your local food bank will be very, very grateful
Country Cook
I really do :-)
DeleteI like that I learn something from each and every one of the Challenges that I have done. Some of them blogged about on my other blog. If only I had known back in the day what I know now.
Like Catriona says, I love that you're donating the money you're not spending to the foodbank, a wonderful gesture.
ReplyDeleteWhat exciting birthday treats. I got an afternoon tea voucher from a friend for my birthday and we're using it in a fortnight's time, it's a bit tricky as i'm not that fond of cake but I'm sure Jon'll step up and help me! xxx
The donations to our local church foodbank seem very intermittent, so I like to try and donate regularly and it's nice to be able to top it up a bit more when there are school holidays and people need a bit more for kids lunches. Sadly we don't have any of the big supermarkets that are offering cheap or free kids lunches round here.
DeleteI didn't used to like cake, but it's growing on me recently, and I think this month is going to make it grow even faster. ;-)
Happy birthday! What fun birthday treats. I don't think businesses are quite so generous on birthdays here in the US. Though they do give a dessert but you usually have to buy more than a coffee. My birthday is this month too!
ReplyDeleteMy birthday isn't until 19th but the companies are obviously sending out all the April birthday gifts at the start of the month. Now it's my job not to forget those valuable little vouchers. :-)
DeleteA dessert seems a nice gesture on your birthday, here if you eat in a restaurant on your birthday and order a dessert they usually pipe 'Happy Birthday' all around the edge of your plate with chocolate sauce. I hope you have a lovely birthday too. xx
