You're allowed to ...

You’re allowed to leave any story you don’t find yourself in.
You’re allowed to leave any story you don’t love yourself in.

You’re allowed to leave a city that has dimmed your light instead of making you shine brighter, you’re allowed to pack all your bags and start over somewhere else and you’re allowed to redefine the meaning of your life.

You’re allowed to quit the job you hate even if the world tells you not to and you’re allowed to search for something that makes you look forward to tomorrow and to the rest of your life.

You’re allowed to leave someone you love if they’re treating you poorly, you’re allowed to put yourself first if you’re settling and you’re allowed to walk away when you’ve tried over and over again but nothing has changed.

You’re allowed to let toxic friends go, you’re allowed to surround yourself with love, and people who encourage and nurture you. You’re allowed to pick the kind of energy you need in your life.

You’re allowed to forgive yourself for your biggest and smallest mistakes and you’re allowed to be kind to yourself, you’re allowed to look in the mirror and actually like the person you see.

You’re allowed to set yourself free from your own expectations.

We sometimes look at leaving as a bad thing or associate it with giving up or quitting, but sometimes leaving is the best thing you can do for yourself.

Leaving allows you to change directions, to start over, to rediscover yourself and the world. Leaving sometimes saves you from staying stuck in the wrong place with the wrong people.

Leaving opens a new door for change, growth, opportunities and redemption.

You always have the choice to leave until you find where you belong and what makes you happy.

You’re even allowed to leave the old you behind and reinvent yourself.

  3. The problem is when things change when you don't want them to.

  4. Good words. Too many people do not believe, these things. And keep on moaning, about how unhappy they are. Without ever considering, that the only one, we can change, is ourselves.

Stop staying put, where it hurts. Move on. Or....

Change yourself. If that means a move... So be it. Etc. Etc.

And even if we can not "move," we still can change ourselves. We can work on, not letting any thing or one, _make_ us miserable. Work on it. But first, we have to accept, that the only person we can change, is ourselves.

Just my take, on this post.

  9. Having read your journey and the blood sweat and tears you have put into completing your small holding only to find it was not for you has been a life lesson really. The saying be careful what you dream of comes to mind. I know that what I dreamed of years ago is not what I would want now that I am older. I wish you all the best for the future where ever it takes you ( I think you said previously you were going back to your home town)

    1. Definitely NOT to my home town. Not that I have anything against Manchester or the people, but it's just not for me, I will never live in Manchester again after finding the freedom of the countryside and the sea.

    1. No need to apologise, it's fine 🙂. I spent the weekends of my childhood with my Great Aunt, Uncle and Nana in that area, and family holidays each year there that's why I know it well.

  12. I had never heard of Rania before this so I looked up some of her writing and yes, some of her quotes are very comforting to me right now. I would have thought at my age that I was past being capable of being really hurt and feeling like a fool. I have realised that I need to stop constantly putting myself last in order to make other people happy. I need to give myself permission to look after my own needs sometimes and not to think of myself as selfish for doing so! Hope all is ok with you. We never stop learning and growing and it takes courage to make changes.xx
