Pearls and Crumbs

I think I mentioned somewhere, on this blog or my other one, or maybe on both that I am busy Ziffit-ing my books but I am also reading through them before either scanning and boxing them or putting them back on the shelves.

Some get whizzed through and  instantly I realise that they are no longer for me ... chick lit or recipe books with just too many meat or dairy recipes are no longer my cup of tea.  Others demand that I read through them properly, and slow down my sorting in the nicest of ways.  I am in no rush to do anything this week or next while I am stuck in lockdown and unable to cross borders.

This mornings book Limoncello and Lemon Water was one such book.

Indeed it pulled me in so far that my breakfast was inspired by one of the recipes ... and it reinforced in my mind the style I will be going down in my new home.

Breakfast - a poor mans version of Tomato, Mozzarella and Herb Bruschetta ... but none the less tasty for the ingredients I had to hand.

A very good start to the day and a very nice read ... the book will be staying.

Pearls and crumbs.

  1. This reminds me of pizza toast that I used to make for my boys, toasted bread one side the tomato puree spread on with oregano sliced tomatoes and cheese, sometimes sliced peppers or onions then cheese on top, poor man's pizza but they loved it. I love things on toast, especially mushrooms with some violife cheese on top, if I am on my own I would rather have an " on toast " for dinner, over 40 years of cooking for everybody has dampened my enthusiasm for cooking but occasionally I flourish and create something special then -poof - the urge has gone again, pass me some nuts and a banana and I'm satisfied ! Enjoy your new in between home it should be fun.

    1. Yes I used to make pizza toasts for my boys, and my younger son is convinced I should have patented French Bread Pizzas because they were their favourite thing back in the 80s 😃

  2. Cheese and tomato on toast...favourite. The garlic clove to rub the bread is a good idea!

    1. When something is 'right' you simply step into it. I have this week and next here in Wales to get my stuff together, there is no rush 🙂

    1. I used to feel the same, now they are that much easier to let go of, and the sale of them will buy me a fridge ... so much more useful,

  5. Good luck with your Ziffit book sales. I have also used WeBuyBooks. Try both as they sometimes differ in whether they will accept and the amounts they pay. Does anyone know of a company which buys cookery?

    1. Lightly toast the bread, rub with the cut end of a clove of garlic. Top with sliced tomatoes, a sprinkle of strong tasting cheese and a drizzle of oil. Pop into top oven of the Aga for 5 minutes, or under a medium grill. 😃

    1. No it's currently very hard to get hold of. It's on Amazon as a used book for £57 ... no wonder Ziffit offered me £3 for it 🤣🤣

  13. Whilst I like the look of your breakfast, I really want to know what you’re going to do with Limoncello! Mu hubby used to have to go to Milan, on and off, for work several years ago and he loved a Limoncello after his evening meal. Good luck with your move, by the way xx

    1. I've never had Limoncello, but then I don't really like lemony things, well except my hot water first thing in the morning 😃
