Wanna Buy a House ?

Yesterday our house officially went on the market.

We are marketing through a local Estate Agent and also on the Greenshifters website that we originally found it on seven years ago.

Within 12 hours overnight of it being on Greenshifters we had a couple in London who have just sold their home getting in touch for more information.

And then yesterday within an hour of it going on line through our estate agents he had someone in touch expressing an interest.  As he is not yet allowed to show anyone round the house we have to wait for the  First Ministers address on Friday night to find out if things will relax sufficiently for the house to be viewed.

Fingers crossed on all fronts 😃

And especially for you ... a link to the details.

There are lots and lots of photos, and yes you'll recognise a couple of mine in there amongst the professional ones.

  1. What a beautiful house and land. Thank you for showing us the whole property. I'm not sure I'd ever want to leave, although I do appreciate the effort it takes to keep a place looking that lovely! Goog Luck!

    1. You all deserve to see it now that it's all finished and about to be someone else's. After all you have all put up with my whinging and whining when things were going wrong during all the renovations etc ;-)

  2. So exciting. The photographs are top notch. Anyone looking for something at that price in that area would be tempted to view the property from the details in the description. It should sell quickly. Best of luck.

    1. We were shocked at the valuation, it was valued by two local agents who know the area well ... and we decided to go with the lower valuation to try and get a quick sale. We are in profit, which for a while we doubted we would be!!

  3. It looks so lovely! Whoever buys it would be able to move straight in and not need to do anything to it. It's a very good price for a buyer. Out of my price range sadly but I'd buy it in a heartbeat otherwise!!

    1. It is all set up and ready to go, both the house and the land. And during lockdown we have had the time to bring everything back up to scratch ready for the sale.

The growing spaces need two people both committed to looking after them for a good proportion of their time. Or as a minimum one enthusiastic person working every day and one part-timer. Something that unfortunately, we've not been able to give it for the last couple of years.

  4. Beautiful photos of a charming house showing every part of the property off to its best, good luck! BTW, what will the new house be like? are you looking for veg growing space?

    1. I'm looking for a growing space about the size of my net tunnel so approximately 12ft x 25ft. But whatever space I end up with ... and one of my criteria IS a garden for Suky ... I will grow veggies and fruit to the best of it's and my capability. Dotted in amongst flowers and shrubs if necessary :-)

  7. Your house is looking lovely, I could move in and wouldn't need to do anything, or more importantly want to do anything. I think you will get a quick sale. Fingers crossed for you. Helen S.

  8. Thanks for letting us have a nosey around, it all looks in tip top condition, I suspect it will sell quickly. I hope you find your new home quickly too, that's not always easy I know. Good luck with it all Sue.

    1. Well if anyone deserves a nosey around it's you lovely lot, the ones who have supported us through all the ups and downs of the renovations and double re-decorations.

We have our eyes on some houses in our new location, but we're not buying until after we have banked the money from this one.

      Thank you. xx

Ginger is so adaptable and the area we are moving to is very similar to where he came from, he should be fine ... and the rabbits here will be SO relieved to see the back of him and Mavis!!

  11. It really is beautiful. Your decorating is just to my taste, pretty but not cluttered. All these years I never realized your kitchen is so large. I think that you will sell fast and, strange as it sounds, the virus may benefit your sale with people rethinking their lives in London and other cities. That is what we are seeing here in America, people thinking of leaving NYC for smaller areas.

    1. It's not as large as the photos make it seem, there are some good angles there ;-)

I like that in the living room our little blue armchair actually looks like a two seater sofa on some of the shots. The only ones actually really true to size are the two bigger bedrooms, but somehow he's made our office look smaller than it is. Weird ... the magic of photography eh!!

  13. Looks fabulous Sue, and fingers crossed everything goes well for you.

The media have been talking up the idea that post-pandemic people will want to move away from cities now they have discovered the joys of working from home and so on. I know initially the lockdown was very stressful for you because it stopped your sale but who knows - it might actually work out better for you? And if you are currently marketing at the lower valuation and there is lots of interest, maybe you will be able to ask for “overs offer” ...

    1. It does seem to be working in our favour now the lockdown end is in sight and people are re-assessing their future wants. People wanting to be away from it all will be really interested. However, where we are moving to is the best of both worlds. Being able to actually walk into the countryside will be so good as apposed to being stuck on our land except for shopping trips and Alan's work ... as we have been since March.

  14. Great photos Sue, it's looking top notch. I've got every confidence it will sell. We get so many Londoners in my village because they have such buying power with the fortunes their properties fetch in London.

    1. It's really good that the photos were all taken just after the total top to toe redecoration and re-carpeting. It does look very fresh. Yes, the couple that got in touch said they would be cash buyers having already sold in London. Oh to have that sort of money eh!

    1. We're not making a fortune but there is a nice little profit in it. We ploughed a lot of money into this after we bought it, so much so that we thought we would struggle to break even, but the housing market and our clever planning has been good to us thank goodness.

  25. If I didn't have two sons still living at home who are not ready to fly the nest, I could have been one of your prospective viewers, what a lovely place - you won't have any trouble shifting it I'm sure - good luck - hope the lockdown enables house viewings soon.

  26. You must be very proud of your work. It is looking so inviting Sue, I’d bet it will sell very easily. Everything is sparkling and there are no “must do before we move in” s to put people off. We actually had sales during our Level 4 lockdown - people willing to buy off the photos, and l’d do that with your lovely property. I hope you find exactly what you dream of for your next adventure. Thanks for letting us look.

  30. Your home looks stunning, Sue, and G has fallen totally in love with it! I know there would be far too much work in it at our age (we are both 70) but it will be perfect for a younger family. I'm sure it will be snapped up soon. Lots of SOLD notices are going up now in our area. Thank you for letting us see the photos and good luck with selling.

    1. We can only just manage at our age (we're 60 and 61, although Alan thinks he's immortal), so yes it would be nice to sell to someone younger, and children would LOVE the woodland for dens and adventures.

      Thank you. xx
