I'm a bit like that Sue. I sometimes see these great big fancy houses on television and I never envy folk who live in them - give me a little country cottage any day.
Yes, when I see vast homes on television and people raving about their 'space' I just see expanses of hoovering and dusting. Perhaps they can all afford cleaners!!
And when a family of four says they have 'outgrown' their 3-bed house my mind just boggles, I grew up in a 3 room dwelling as part of a family of four, and although my Mum found it hard at times we children loved it.
I believe people can go back to their caravans on the 4th July in England. Have you had any indication from the Welsh govt yet? I know you love it there.
Well our caravan is in England, so hopefully it's available from then, I'm just waiting for an email from the Park. Travel restrictions are still in place here in Wales until at least the 6th July ... so we have a slight dilemma!!
A Walk In library (with maybe a small walk-in pantry) - a comfortable reading chair & a lovely bed and I'm happy. I actually live in a small apt. - about 560 sq. feet but I could go smaller as long as there was enough wall space for my bookcases. Hope the house sale happens quickly and that you can get back to the caravan as soon as possible.
In my Van life I live in 432 sq. ft. and it suits me just fine. I could go smaller, and maybe one day I will if I can find a one bedroom caravan anywhere :-)
I've just this minute had an email to say they are definintely opening on the 4th July :-)
Yes of course, this blog was always meant to be all about Van Life and until this years lockdown pretty much was. It has mostly been written from my little laptop on the dining table at the Van. I always blog on my laptop now since Alan claimed the office and computer for his own, so when in Wales I'm on the little wooden table in the living room. Can you picture me there now, sat facing the wall with that gorgeous view to my right?
Yes I can! I think I would be constantly gazing through the window rather than doing any work, it's so beautiful and calming ;) so glad you will be carrying on blogging :)
Oh happy day Sue, and you should be able to keep nice and safely distanced whilst you are there. Is your viewing today or tomorrow, I can’t remember - very best of luck for whenever it does happen.
Unfortunately it has been cancelled, partly due to Covid-19 restrictions and partly due to our agent finding out she has sold her house at a reduced price and was going to make us an offer £80,000 under the asking price!
Glad we never "overbought" even with four children. They had to share bedrooms...so what? Everyone had to actually to talk to each other which was a good thing--though they may not have agreed :). They all survived, still talk to each other and now each has their own family home. So many folks my age bought these huge 'track' mansions (or as we call them in the US, McMansions). Who wants to clean all that space/five or six bathrooms or pay huge utility bills? Not me. Hope you are able to get settled back in your 'van happy place' soon.
Nope, I've never understood the 'my children must have a bedroom each and a playroom' mentality. We are so lucky to have homes, warmth and running water. And in my opinion the less to clean the better 😃
Hi Sue - I re-found you after many years last week. I have spent a few evenings catching up. Looking forward to whatever comes next - and I hope that you are able to get to the van soon.
I wasn't hiding too hard, both my current blogs are on the sidebar of Our New Life in the Country. I think you need to practise a bit harder before you play hide and seek again ;-)
I bet you can't wait to get back to the van, we were due to go away this week but weren't able to. We have also booked for September and November down in Wales, I sooooooooooooooo hope we can go. £80,000 less, wow that is a big drop, maybe you should put it up a few £ so that then you could say you would be prepared to drop, but not by £80,000. DeleteIt's soooooo close!! The Van and then the future ... which quite possibly could be JUST the Van for a couple of years :-)
ReplyDeleteSounds good to me.
ReplyDeleteIt really does, doesn't it :-)

DeleteIt won't be long now, Sue, and the park looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteOh, and meant to say: will you still keep blogging once your house is sold?

DeleteI've been blogging since 2008, I think it would be too weird to just stop. It's a good habit to be in :-)

DeleteNot long to go Sue until you are in your "happy place" the site looks wonderful so it's not surprising you are missing being there.
ReplyDeleteIt's got the best of both worlds, big enough that you have privacy and yet small enough to be friendly and safe ♥️
