Some people slept through part of the televised proceedings. 😄
On Sunday we had a spur of the minute ride out to Fleetwood to make the most of the unexpected warmth and sunshine. We just walked the dogs long the promenade, chatted to lots of other dog walkers and had a coffee or two along with a tray of chips and a bacon bun for Alan.
Yesterday with the rain falling heavily we took the dogs out with us and had breakfast at our favourite local garden centre. I bought some new plants for the large pot in the centre of the garden which has been looking very sad for some time now, the daffodils that were in there never got flower heads this year and just looked like tall skinny weeds. It looks so much better now and just doing this has made an enormous difference to our tiny garden.
I also treated myself to a Buddha head that really caught my fancy ... I love that I can change his 'hairstyle' with every different plant that I put in there. I started him off with a fern, I love ferns just as much as Alan hates them ... and gradually they are creeping into the garden. 😁
I hope you all had a lovely weekend, and managed to make the best of what good weather we did have.
Sue xx
May your Buddha bring luck to your garden - that's what I'm hoping for for mine!
ReplyDelete(It certainly is a VERY strange coincidence)
Yes, very strange. I have looked at them in the garden centre before, but I never felt the urge to buy one until yesterday!!
DeleteHaha - just been to Sue's blog and then did a double take here - thought you had been shopping together!! Nice to have a change of display and the perennials will look lovely all summer.
ReplyDeleteObviously great minds think alike. I'll have to watch out for small wacky looking plants now to change his hairstyle on a regular basis. :-)
DeleteHow funny, I've always fancied a Buddha head pot as well! Must be something to do with the name! I actually have a small one with an artificial plant in it in the caravan.
ReplyDeleteI used to have a proper seated Buddha ... you know the chubby, happy guy type ... but I've never had a head before.
DeleteOoh nice pots! The Buddha head is lovely.
ReplyDeleteGlad you all had a smashing weekend.
The big pot definintely looks better with some fresh plants in it doesn't it.
DeleteIt does look lovely and it's reminded us that we need to refresh a couple of ours too.
DeleteA good excuse to visit the garden centre ... maybe a coffee and a scone too. ;-)
DeleteYour pots are looking lovely and the Buddha head adds to the display. We watched nothing to do with the coronation but it would have been a different weekend if my mother had still been with us. Glad you had a nice time with your Mum. Catriona
ReplyDeleteI love the pot now it's freshly planted again. I do have to stop buying stone 'things' for the garden though. I have the bird drinker 'hands', the Welsh dragon, Bella's little angel and now a Buddha head. I think I have reached capacity ... or have I? ;-)
DeleteI had a pot of daffodil leaves this year - strange as the other pot of the same flowered again! I thought you had 'borrowed' Sue's Buddha too! Looks good with the fern. Lovely picture of your mum - you can see the likeness with your picture. We see my mum tomorrow, so a nice trip up to North Yorkshire and perhaps we might fit in to a visit to the local garden centre in Northallerton - though I musn't buy anything as there isn't any room left in my garden now everything growing like mad. x
ReplyDeleteOh we are very alike. When I met up with my ex-husband for the first time in years the other week, the first thing he said was 'ooh you are like your Mum'. I hope you have a lovely day with your Mum today and things go okay.
DeleteNow I wonder ... what are the odds of you buying NOTHING from the garden centre .... hmmmm. ;-)
We worked, not having a king to celebrate. Ferns are very sneaky plants, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteI LOVE ferns, I really like the way the completely disappear over Winter and then come back fresh and new each Spring, slowly unfurling their beautiful leaves. Alan used to walk the hillside snapping them off from ground level in the paddock, I would try and replant any I found before he got there.
DeleteI just know Buddha is going to have some very interesting hair styles.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I can see me being on the look out for all sorts of unusual small plants to change things around a bit. :-)
DeleteI do love a garden Buddha, Jon bought me a huge Buddha head ornament for my 40th birthday - it's almost an antique now!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed your coronation gathering, you're very like your lovely mum aren't you? Such a sweet photo of those two snoozing, too! xxx
Gosh it really is old if it was bought for your 40th. ;-)
DeleteYes, me and Mum are very alike. Alan falls asleep EVERY time we visit Mum and Mavis now waits for him to get in the comfy chair so she can join him. I take a photo of him every week and he's going to get a birthday card with a montage on next year to prove that he does. :-)
As a Buddhist, I like the idea of having Buddha statues and even Buddha heads in a garden, but, find the idea of a Buddha head planter to be disconcerting to say the least. I would never consider planting anything in a Jesus head planter, for example.
ReplyDeleteSorry I didn't even think of it like that, but saying that ... I would put a plant in a stone Jesus head if it were available. I think bring Buddha or Jesus into a well tended garden and having it as a talking point can only be a good thing. xx
