The Seaside from Lancashire to Cumbria

We decided on the spur of a sunny moment, to head to the seaside for a coffee and some chips.

The dogs love the seaside, and although they are not allowed on the sand at this time of year there are usually enough little sandy patches that have been blown along the promenade wall for them to get a bit of sand between their toes and enjoy the sensation in a smaller way.

Now the girls are older they simply enjoy a walk along the prom, a sit under the table while we have a coffee and a portion of chips ... Dad slips them far too many for my liking, but they never complain ... and they LOVE people watching.

It was like a non-stop parade of people and dogs, there was every sort of dog under the sun, and of course we came across a family with a Pug and a happy mini Pug-Meet was enjoyed by Jake and Suky.  Pugs usually react wonderfully when they meet their own kind.

We sat for a long time enjoying the warmth of the sun, the blue skies and the view across Morecambe Bay to the Cumbrian towns and hills across the expanse of the sea.  In the sea were jet skis, sail boats and some very brave swimmers and the beach was full of sandcastle building children having a brilliant time.

It was a lovely relaxing way to spend a  Sunday morning, and we got home in plenty of time for the dogs and Alan to still enjoy their regular Sunday afternoon nap on the sofa.

What have you been up to over the weekend?

Sue xx

  2. I went to a car boot sale, but it had nothing to interest me other than plants, and I bought a few more on the way home too. Lupins, HUGE pots of clumps of Hardy Geraniums, and a well-grown rose campion. A few gaps have been filled. It was just SO lovely to be out in the sunshine though, driving through stunning scenery.

    1. It really does soothe a lot of ills doesn't it, the sun and the blue sky. I LOVE Lupins, I meant to get some the other day, but I bought some Delphiniums instead ... a good excuse to go to the garden centre again to correct my mistake. ;-)

  3. What a lovely day, sounds and looks perfect. My weekend has been very busy ,Phil was admitted to hospital on Friday shockingly and surprisingly with a heart problem so visited Saturday afternoon and a day at home today doing housework, gardening and dog walking, lots of tests ,he is having a pacemaker fitted either tomorrow or Tuesday which will hopefully sort the problem. For some reason the dogs get very excited when I take them for a walk, it's normally Phil's job.

  4. We come to Lancashire several times a year and we have just discovered that Fleetwood has put in some motorhome parking so we’ll be trying that out soon. (Fingers crossed as van keeps being delayed) Catriona

    1. Yes, we parked on the motorhome parking area the other week when we went (cars can use it too). Seemingly you can stay overnight for up to 3 nights in a motorhome free of charge, we just stayed for a couple of hours. What a brilliant scheme ... and there's a good café on the corner too.

  5. That sounds wonderful, Sue, you can't beat a bit of fresh sea air, can you.

My weekend was spent with our daughter and family on Saturday afternoon and catching up with washing on Sunday as the sun was shining. Poor G was working as usual, selling plants, garden furniture and barbecues to customers who suddenly realised that Summer is almost upon us ;)
