What Are You Up To?

This weekend I will be reading my book while we wait for the delivery of the furniture that we chose from the British Heart Foundation shop in Llandudno last week.

It will be nice to have the television sat on a piece of furniture instead of our plastic box.

And it will be even better to sit on a sofa instead of the garden chairs we have been using.  Amazingly for just over £500 we managed to get ourselves a two seater sofa, a coffee table, two sets of bedside drawers and a brand new self assembly dining table and two chairs from the BHF shop ... and an oak television unit for just £30 from Facebook Marketplace which we will be picking up ourselves.

And it's also nice to help out a very deserving charity while furnishing our Welsh flat.

Alan will no doubt spend some of our waiting time cutting the grass again.  After just two cuts it's already looking a bit more like a lawn than a piece of waste ground.  The dogs love having grass of their own again.

And this photo of my plant has just reminded me that I need to go and water all the indoor plants before we go.  Why have I got a photo of this plant, I don't know, sometimes I just go around snapping away at things and it must have caught my eye for some reason as I stepped in the door. 😀

Hope you all have a great weekend ... what are you up too?

  1. Hi Sue I think I vaguely remember you did a blog post about the little picture above so that’s why you have the picture of the plant. Have a great weekend. Heather

    1. The plant did appear last month on the post about the pink carnations, but this photo was only taken last week. Hope you have a lovely weekend. xx

  2. We have just come back from a couple of days away in our touring caravan so she will need a jolly good clean this weekend. It's amazing how grubby she can get in such a short time! For my pleasure I hope to knit, read, walk my dog and do a little gardening as those pesky weeds are just loving all the rain. Have a great weekend.

  3. Houseworky and gardeny jobs here too. I do like your little plant vignette - have you heard the term "shelfie"?

    1. Yes I have ... that is a good 'shelfie' isn't it, I should take a photo every time it changes. 😀

  4. Sounds like you have been able to furnish your flat in a very environmentally friendly way as well as economically, while helping out a charity, too!
I'll be spending my weekend getting ready for a very unusual for us event - a tropical storm, as hurricane Hilary makes its way to southern California! The last time we've had a tropical storm was back in 1939, according to the news!

    1. It's a real win, win, win way to furnish somewhere isn't it, it made me happy doing it this way.

I hope you, your family and your property stay safe through the storm. Take care. xx

  6. Well done with helping the charity whilst getting the furniture you needed for the flat.

The plans were to get on out in the garden but it's just started raining! Family History research it is then . . .

    1. The weather is so hit and miss isn't it. We've just had a dog walk on Llandudno prom before the rain comes back. It was so windy.

  7. Oh, I wanted to get a copy of Joanna's book, but the shipping was way too much to send to the U.S. But I know you're going to enjoy it :) I hope you'll share some pictures if you make anything from it. We have watched their channel for several years now and they are our favorites!

    1. It's available as a printable pdf now, so you could get it that way. 😀

Yes, I've watched all their videos too, they're a lovely little family.

  9. Your Welsh flat does sound wonderful. the lawn looks great for the dogs. Today is just a home pottering day for me. I'm going to prep more TOMATOES to can tomorrow. then some tidying around the house. I want to meal prep some for the week so I'll put rice in the rice cooker and maybe do a batch of lentils.

    1. They are really enjoying having some grass to lie on again, without a drive to the park first. :-)

  11. Harvesting, processing the harvest and cutting up my scraps into 2 1/2" squares is what I have been up to this day. Tomorrow will be much the same, only I will be cutting 4 1/2" squares and saving the scraps.
Great deal on all the furniture.

    God bless.

    1. It takes a lot of work all the harvesting and processing at this time of year doesn't it. I'm not missing doing it on a large scale like I used to have to. There must be a lot of the squares by now then, I hope it's going well.

  12. I love the look of Joanna's book. I bought a Holly The Cafe Boat mug but missed the book as they've sold out. Their channel is so calming and I'm hoping that one day they will come to our neck of the woods so that we can buy coffee and cakes from them :)
It sounds like you have bought really well for the flat and I bet it will look lovely.

    1. The mugs were lovely weren't they, I was sorely tempted, but then they sold out. They never seem to get a big enough run of everything do they. It would make much more sense to make a profit if they had a lot and then sold any excess from Holly alongside the coffees and cakes.

Another really calming channel is Kris Atomic, her cinematography is amazing ... she is a professional so I guess it should be. :-)

  13. I like that Vermeer's Milkmaid is behind you pot plant with a jug, a subliminal reminder to water it (with h20 rather than milk!) xxx

    1. Haha ... yes I hadn't thought of that. I actually bought a large jug last year and didn't know why it appealed to me so much, and when I got home and put it on that shelf I realised it was almost identical to the one she's holding!!
