A Non-Foody Post ...

My little home is truly starting to feel like that.

I love going out but the best bit of any outing is now the getting back home.  Closing the door on the world and knowing that everything around me is mine, carefully chosen and wanted or needed.

That's why I think it's so easy for me to part with things that don't feel that way.  The things that do belong here make the things that don't really stand out to me, and now it's so easy to let stuff go.

Little corners with their little collections make me smile.  Some are purposefully put together and others ... like the things here on my bedside table just end up there.

Having less, and being on this decluttering journey really helps me both in this physically small space and mentally.  A clear mind is one gift that it's truly worth giving to yourself.

Even this Challenge with me currently eating my way through the stores and thus claiming back tiny little bits of space in the cupboards and fridge is a truly clarifying and restorative process that is doing me the world of good.

    1. I feel a difference in myself this week for sure. It's nine months of pain now, so maybe I'm being reborn. 😃🤣

  2. Home is so important and like you I strive to make sure I don't have anything that I don't love or need. I'm getting much better at not buyng things simply because they catch my eye. I'm aiming to eat better and reduce food waste too. Your blog helps with these aspirations. thanks Sue.

    1. It took me a while to realise that I can like or even love the look of something without having to own it. And a smidge longer to persuade Alan that just because I say I like something, I really don't want him to buy it for me.

  3. I don't think I could ever live in a tiny space in the middle of town. I need land, open spaces, air, wildlife abounding... nothing but woods for hundreds of acres when I step outside in back. And almost all of the material things that surround me inside my house have been touched by my ancestors. Everything's old and certainly not modern but... I gain comfort from knowing my mother handled this or my great-grandmother handled that or my father used this or my grandfather used that. But I'm glad you have found what brings you happiness. In the end that's all that matters, isn't it. ~Andrea xoxoxo

    1. It is all that matters and I love living in my tiny space surrounded by my treasures and things passed down through my family as well as treasures I have rescued ... but I don't need clutter that will be left when I am gone. Oh, and I don't live in the middle of a town ... I live right on the edge of town with fields, canals and the river close by. 🙂

    1. Yes, I fell in love with the wallpaper as soon as I saw it. It's from Laura Ashley, luckily I only needed two rolls. 😃

  8. I have always said the best part of any journey is arriving home once again. Keep what you love and declutter the rest.

    God bless.
