Oversized rooms full of shit ...

I'm heading home to Wales for a couple of days to sell some of my stuff ... Facebook Marketplace here I come.

I don't need stuff, I don't want to be moving stuff across from one country to another when the house eventually sells, so it's time to simply sell up and not replace.  As long as I have my chosen books, the few bits of furniture that means something to me and a box of two of memories I will be happy.

Then when I come back I'll chill a bit, hopefully after a job well done.

    1. Ah, but at least you are cracking on and dealing with it aren't you, so things for both of us will improve soon :-)

  3. Isn't it funny that the only thing I'm missing from our last home is my books....right now less is more; less furniture and stuff to clean, more leisure time ;)
Good luck with the selling spree!

  4. I have aboout 19 months to get ride of, charity shop, give or sell lots of stuff, as we want to be moving by 2022. Where does all the stuff come from? When we first moved to the west country I had 4 and 1/2 wardrobes of clothes, I now have one and don't wear half of that, another area to clear out. Good luck with your sales. I also don't want to shlep things over and over again when moving. Helen S.

  5. My husband is the worst, he drives me bonkers. I try to make do and mend, he says it's got throw away value! Now it's a new car.......no, no, not with a dog and the kayaks etc.

  8. Wishing you loads of luck with your decluttering and selling on, Sue.
I'd love a three storey house, a walk-in wardrobe, a walk-in library and a humongous herb garden, I'm a maximalist through and through! xxx

  9. we tend to hang on to possessions out of sentimentality or guilt, I certainly have plenty of 'things' that I need to part company with - we are now putting our house up and looking to relocate to the Somerset, I am going thorugh all the agonising decisions you probably had to make and I may well end up in the same boat as you a year or two down the line, who knows. I put my thoughts and feelings on this weeks blog post and invited comments, yours, as someone who knows, is welcome too (betty-thewoodfairy.blogspot.com) … I think decluttering is so good for our minds and that when yours is done you will feel complete, in control and positive. It's also good to know someone else is enjoying your clutter and considers it treasure, it helps to let things go - I never kept anything from my parents when they died for that reason.

  11. I'm realizing that on top of aiming to retire in 8 years, we have to look at down sizing everything in our house we don't need or truly love. My kids don't want this baggage. I want to be able to pick and travel, without worry that we com eh om eto dust cluttered stuff, and if we sell and move, like you, do not wan tot be moving things without purpose.

  12. I'm living the dream although it's more like nightmare of downsizing 12 months ago, unlike you Sue we didn't declutter as much as we hoped before selling our old home:(

  13. I love books, but got rid of all but my favorite cookbooks a few years ago. I could not bear packing them up and lugging them around each time I moved home.
