Some of my favourite little Christmas ornaments.
The 'Hope' angel I bought for myself from a little shop that was near to the terraced house I rented when I left my first husband. Me and my youngest son didn't have much that first Christmas but that little angel symbolised so much, and a tealight glowed from the little star shaped holes each and every night through December. The hand-painted Robin plaque and the transfer decorated bell were both done by my Auntie Barbara, my Dad's sister. I used to sell her hand-decorated china when I opened my first ever shop, and her beautiful trinket boxes and dishes brought customers to my shop. Unpacking them every year brings back happy memories ... just as Christmas ornaments should.
Yes, I think Aldi have done the best ad this year too
ReplyDeleteIt feels like they are the only ones to have kept to their usual standard.
DeleteLiking the mismatch idea and I love the play on Ebanana. I agree with your words about Christmas decor..bringing back happy memories ... just as Christmas ornaments should. You are quite right. Will have to come back and watch the farmhouse video - I have a cake to finish just now! 🎄🎄
ReplyDeletePS I will wave as usual from M6 as we pass near Garstang tomorrow on our way up to Scotland.
Ooh a cake, I bet the house smells gorgeous.
DeleteI hope things aren't too horrendous when you arrive, good luck with the roof etc.
Not his size but my husband would love both pairs of those socks.
ReplyDeleteI think Alan would too, his favourite colour is oranges :-)
DeleteYour ornaments are beautiful, Sue, and so many memories tied up in them. I like the Aldi ad too and the music in the background, the Pogues, always makes me smile. The lyrics are so totally unexpected when you hear it for the first time ...lol.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend x
It's one of my favourite Christmas songs, I love the lyrics ... they are just designed to be sung loudly and slurredly when slightly over-imbibed and you think 'sod the consequences' ;-)
DeleteI love the Aldi advert this year - very clever.
ReplyDeleteI agree about the joy Christmas ornaments can bring. It's lovely
xx
There's something lovely about taking much loved ornaments out of their tissue paper each year isn't there, and smoothing it flat ready to be re-used in the days after Christmas.
DeleteI love brussel spouts! I never would eat them as a kid but now I find them most enjoyable! :)
ReplyDeleteI desperately WANT to love them ... even to just like them would do ... but it's not happened up to now!!
DeleteYes I love sprouts too, especially roasted until caramelised.
ReplyDeleteThat is my plan this year, to roast or sauté them with Maple syrup and something crunchy and flavourful and see if that works.
DeleteVery good mismatch going on.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Yes, and I would have two pairs the same!! :-)
