Blogmas - Advent Day 9

It was a much quieter night last night, after a wild, windy evening everything went suddenly still and seemed so peaceful.  I picked up some calcium tablets after a discussion with the pharmacist yesterday and then because it is right next door we called to Booths for something to eat and a coffee.  Then after getting himself organised Alan hit the road to Reading for an overnight stay before a full day in the workplace today.

It's took Mavis a while to get used to Daddy disappearing overnight once a week, the first few times she sat in a hunched-over sulk for hours but now she seems to get the gist of daddy vanishes then reappears just a day later ... and the world doesn't end.  Ironic then that perhaps with the new work from home instruction he might be home a bit more, we'll see.  He still had to travel during all the previous full lockdowns and stay at home instructions so this might not change too much.

Todays Advent calendar socks are covered in gorgeous little owls and the little pot of cream from the Aldi beauty drawer is a 'Cleansing Balm' ... all these products who even knew your skin needed them!! 😁

The doggies at 5.20 this morning.

I woke at 4.43 according to the clock on the cooker but after a glass of water I went back to bed, although I couldn't manage to get back to sleep.  So after a bit I got up again, needless to say the dogs didn't ... they stayed tucked up like this while I sat and watched some YouTube, then as if by magic at 7.30 they got out of bed and demanded breakfast.

  1. I so envy you Booths - I love their shops. They do such lovely things. My nearest one is 200 miles away :-(

    1. Yes we are very lucky to have one in walking distance, not that I've walked there just recently!! But we both love the local foods they sell and the quality of the produce, AND ... it's right next door to Aldi so we have the best of both worlds.

    2. So sorry - i forgot to add my name - Fiona - I've commented on your blog before! When we holidayed in Keswick I could walk to Booths every day - husband not impressed and frugality went out of the window!! :-)

  2. They look so cosy together. More lovely socks too, I like the orange on them I would have put that colour on the toes as well (I like orange!). After almost two years of working from home my daughter had only just received a directive from the Uni where she works to go in for 2 out of her 3 days now - I did say to her this week that this might not last long and it could be reversed again quite soon. 🎄🎄🎄

    1. Ginger is usually in there with them, but Alan has a new cosy fleece on his sofa and Ginger's been sleeping on that just recently. Things are changing quite rapidly on the Covid front again aren't they. :-(

  3. I like your idea of stacking the red and green books! Clever! Those socks are so cute - you have really gotten a terrific variety of socks in this advent calendar! All are so cute and wearable! I should give something like that as a gift to my daughter next year if I can find something like it here in the US.

    1. Yes, I thought it was time for a book stack change and red, green and gold are my go-to Christmas colours 😀

  4. Covid rules seem to be a case of "In out in out and shake it all about!"

    1. I can't keep up, what with all the reports on tele AND the calling out the Prime Minister for lying and partying, it's making for very confusing news bulletins.

  5. You are getting quite the sock collection. And yes, who knew we needed all these beauty products? Now if I could just care enough to use what I already have (no beauty advent calendar, here), perhaps they might help. :)

    1. I'm going to give everything a go but I doubt I'll be dashing out to buy any full sized products when my calendar goodies run out.

  6. Love those socks! I'm glad you had an outing yesterday, and yes, the COVID situation has me concerned so glad I can stay home.

    1. It does feel good to get out, but it makes for a very uncomfortable day the next day. ☹️

  7. A lovely, cosy, Christmassy first photo :) and I think the owl socks are my favourite so far Sue.
You do seem to wake early at the moment. I simply don't want to get up in a morning when I feel cozy and warm in bed. I wake up with no pain and it feels lovely but as soon as I get up the stiffness makes itself known :(
I love how the doggies turn their faces into the blanket as if to say "don't even think of disturbing us" ;)

    1. I have to get up early just to get myself moving. I wake up in pain as I have to lie as still as possible all night, but obviously prior to all this I used to move around a lot at night as you do, and I have always been a side-sleeper, so sleeping on my back took a but of getting used to.

Oh the dogs did not want to be disturbed this morning. 😀🤣
