Adding to my Furniture Collection

It didn't look much sat in the charity shop, surrounded by boxes of crockery and a mound of cushions, but I spotted it's 'shabby chic' distressed potential straight away.

The colour sang out to me, as did the price.

Just £7 for a lovely little stool, and it was just what I needed to sit my Salt Lamp on in the corner of the living room ... and which could double as seating if and when visitors are ever allowed.

The top fabric was dire, although it must have seemed pretty in it's last home when it was originally done.

But a bit of glue on the legs, a cushion cover and a dozen drawing pins later and I had just what I envisioned when I saw it surrounded by all that charity shop clutter.

"Are we playing Spot the Difference again Mum?"

  2. How pretty! A friend and I were out for a drive yesterday and went to a large antique market about an hour north of the city. It was a gorgeous day and this place was very quiet and masks mandatory so it was a nice place to spend 45 minutes. I'm not good at spotting "hidden treasures" but my friend certainly is and she would really approve of your choice!

    1. Nope, I had two cushions and used one of the cushion covers to cover the stool 😄

That's a great find and totally transformed with the much more attractive checked fabric. We are going to miss our chazza bargains, aren't w? xxx

    1. They were two cushions I bought to brighten up the Van, but as they have a faint mustard coloured stripe running through they go really well here too 😃

  6. The remade stool is lovely. The flat is getting cozier. I finally looked up drawing pins after reading your blog and discovered they are what we call in North America thumb tacks.

    1. Yes, thumb tacks are a much better name for them as they take a lot of thumb power to push in. I wonder why we call them drawing pins ... maybe because they were used in drawing boards.

  8. Judging by the original cushion which looks custom made, perhaps it was a dressing table stool? I've been looking for something similar so am quite jealous. I am a new follower, came via Vix's blog. I have been enjoying following your new adventures.

    1. Under the twee lightweight fabric and glued on lace trim is the original vinyl cover, so now it's multi layered 🤣🤣

  9. Snap I bought a stool off FB last week £3, I'm going to paint and wax it. You've done a cracking job. Stools are very useful aren't they!

  11. I do like what you did with the stool, how clever to use one cushion cover and make yourself a nice matched set. You seem to be settling in very quickly and very well. I am glad.
