Cards, Lights and Snow

Yay ... I've got my first Christmas card, thanks John.

It;s starting to feel a lot like Christmas now, especially on my evening doggy walk around town with Suky.  The lights are beautiful and run the full length of the High Street as well as in most of the little alleyways and Weinds.

Just lovely and festive.

And what's that I spy just now from my front doorstep as the mist over the hills starts to clear ...

... I thought so!!

A first sprinkling of snow.

Now it really is starting to feel like Christmas.

  1. That big round hedge in the first of your doorstep view photos looks like a big Christmas pudding with a sprig of holly on the top!!!!

    1. Haha, it's exceptionally neat apart from that sprig, I'm wondering if it's owner is planning a little shaped thingy on top ... or is maybe just a short person 🤣😃

  2. Your High Street looks lovely, I know ours is lit but I am rarely there when it's dark (mutters in the background "must make an effort").

Snow visible on the hills here for the last couple of days.

    1. I'm walking it each night with Suky just to drink in the magic of the lights and the lovely Christmassy shop windows. Everyone makes a real effort here it's brilliant 🎄💖

  3. The High Street looks lovely.
I've never lived anywhere to see snow on the hills - the little we had here yesterday soon turned to yet more rain

    1. I don't think I could live anywhere without hills, although I mostly like looking at them not walking up them 🤣😀

    2. I've never lived anywhere flat. We don't play marbles much around here!!!

    3. Haha, we looked at houses in Lincolnshire before we moved to Wales, the flatness there was amazing.

  4. I miss Xmas lights, they do them here but they are kinda strange, I am glad I am in hospital to get away from it . I should be home for Xmas and then in January we go to Sapporo for the snow festival minus 18, but it’s wonderful, we get a bit in Tokyo but it doesn’t last long. Mt fuji gets a coating most of the year. I love seeing that mountain.

    1. Have you thought of starting a blog, it would make for fascinating reading and comparisons to the UK. My eldest sons brother in law and wife live in Japan. She's Japanese and he's an English martial arts master, training people over there, and from the snippets I hear life is very different.

  6. The view you have from your home is gorgeous. I do miss the open countryside. I love seeing towns and villages lit up so beautifully too. At least here the houses are covered in masses of Christmas lights, reindeer, snowmen, holly wreaths and candy canes 🎅 🎄 We are hoping for a little snow too. It will, hardly stop us going out this year will it!

Still keeping my fingers crossed for a quick sale on your smallholding x

    1. The view from the master bedroom in Alan's part of the house is brilliant, right out over the canal with all the barges moored along the edge, but I won't have much of a view from my windows unfortunately 🥴🙂

  7. Oh how lovely and festive does your little town look! A wise move I think for you - it seems you have lots of lovely countryside and scenery around you too. Seasons greetings from our Tier 3 area!

  9. Your town looks sparkling and ready for the holidays! I suppose your "High Street...alleyways and Weinds" are the same as our "Main Street, back alleys and side streets". I love how our languages are similar so I can figure out what you mean but yet different in the local expressions we use.

  12. The lights are fantastic, so festive.

Our snow is slowly disappearing as the temperatures here are a bit above what they should be this year.

    God bless.
