It's here the BIG day in all senses of the word ... I'm 60.
Born in 1960 and reaching 60 has a nice ring about it and I'm not bothered by the changing of the decades. Joining Alan in our 60's hold no worries for me ... although for a while I thought it might.
Are you all wondering about my homemade present from Alan as mentioned in yesterday's post.
Well what do you need when you're heralding in your swinging sixties ...
... of course you need a swing!!
The view from the back is not very appealing but the view from the front is amazing, and the good thing is because of the garage overhang I can even swing on a rainy day.
Here's to my Swinging Sixties 💚
Now I'm off to watch afternoon television, drink afternoon wine, eat afternoon chocolate and generally just have the laziest birthday ever!!
I hope your day is as good.
Sue xx
Happy 60th, what a thoughtful present. Well done Alan, you put my selfish hubby to shame.
ReplyDeleteHaha ... he's no angel or perfect husband.
DeleteI told him exactly what I wanted, where it could go and how it could be done. I even Googled photos online and printed them out to show him what I meant. He found the wood, cut it to size and added some of his rope. Luckily as an ex-sailor he knows his knots so I should be safe.
Thanks for your birthday wishes. xx
Many happy returns Sue, what a wonderful man Alan is for making you such a fun present.
ReplyDeleteThank you. xx
DeleteHe made you the perfect gift! I had a feeling it could be a swing. Enjoy! And a very Happy Birthday to you!
ReplyDeleteYou did!!
DeleteThe only thing is all our trees are so high up on the hillside and so inaccessible AND so tall, that it had to be a garage swing and not a tree swing ;-)
Happy Birthday, and many more! I'm glad it has been wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThank you. xx
DeleteI'm well into my sixties (very well into my sixties!) and I can honestly say t's my best decade ever. Hope you enjoy too!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I intend to, there's still some life in this girl yet!!
DeleteHappy birthday. Great present! I love going on a swing. I was 65 last week. Enjoy this great decade!
ReplyDeleteBelated Happy Birthday to you too. It's seems we're all swingers together :-)
DeleteHappy Birthday, Sue. Swinging is fun. I rejoiced when I got to 60. Freedom from work.
ReplyDeleteThinking about it a few years ago I would be qualifying for my pension now wouldn't I. I have to wait until I'm 66 now unfortunately. But perhaps I'll resign from my company and live on my savings :-)
DeleteI knew it was a swing! Enjoy - the simple pleasures are the best. I can remember going so high on the ones in the Rec and there would be that stomach-turning moment when you had overstretched it and it would suddenly lurch and you would remember the children who were supposed to have looped-the-loop. Hmmm. Tall tales I think!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely Birthday.
I don't think I'll be attempting that ... lol
DeleteMany happy returns m’dear.
ReplyDeleteI guess neither of us are celebrating our 60th this year quite the way we might have intended, but I hope you can find lots of joy, today and always.
Thank you, definitely a different sort of celebration this year, no doggy walk on the prom followed by chips from the chippy shared with the dogs.
DeleteMany congratulations! It's fantastic in your sixties - you'll have a great decade.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous gift!
xx
Thank you. I'm looking forward to it already, how nice that so many of my readers are also in their sixties and enjoying life so much. You lot are inspirational. xx
DeleteCongratulations Sue Happy 60th have a great day. Heather
ReplyDeleteThank you. xx
DeleteWishing you a very Happy Birthday. Enjoy your swing.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I've been out on it already, while I chatted to my Mum. xx
DeleteCongratulations and Happy Birthday. I’m so jealous of that swing.
ReplyDeleteThank you. If you ever pass this way you can have a go :-)
DeleteHappy Birthday. I too am 60 next month. I always felt being born in 1960 meant it was so easy to remember which birthday we are on.
ReplyDeleteIt really does help with remembering ages doesn't it. My Dad was born in 1930, my Mum in 1940 and then me in 1960. My son went and spoilt it by being born in 1981, and then his first son in 1999 ... it's all gone to pot now I have to do maths!!
DeleteHappy Birthday Sue, I couldn't guess what the gift could be, it's a cracker! I few heads will turn as the cars go past now
ReplyDeleteFor sure. Next time you pass (whenever that will be in these crazy times) stop in and you can have a go :-)
Deletehappy birthday to you !!!
ReplyDeleteThank you. xx (I sang that then ...)
DeleteIt's indoors - so you can be "swinging in the rain"! Happy Birthday, and welcome to the 60s.
ReplyDeleteHaha ... yes I can :-) Thank you. xx
DeleteHappy Birthday! X
ReplyDeleteThank you. xx
Deletewonderfull !
ReplyDeleteIt really is :-)
DeleteLovely present, lovely view, lovely choc and wine on your birthday afternoon - what's not to like. Happy Birthday Sue.
ReplyDeleteThank you Pat. xx
DeleteHappy Birthday. Welcome to the 60's. May you live long and prosper! (I watched a Star Trek movie on ch4 last night, can you tell!) xx
ReplyDeleteThank you. I like the old Star Treks ... with Mr Spock who used to say that and do the little hand signal, something me and my Dad did too :-)
DeleteHappy birthday!
ReplyDeleteThank you. xx
DeleteHappy Birthday!! Such a great gift! I hope the sun shines for you soon too in your little valley.
ReplyDeleteJulie
Thank you, it's lovely here, after an overcast start the sun is now shining beautifully. Just the weather for swinging :-)
DeleteA very Happy Birthday Sue. I just love your swing, what a wonderfull gift. I hope you enjoy many fun times playing on it. X
ReplyDeleteThank you, so do I :-)
DeleteWishin you a very Happy 60th Birthday and what a lovley present, you will have such fun on the swing. I well remember the feeling of trying to go as high as you can. Helen S.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I'll just check his knots before I go too high ;-)
DeleteWhat a brilliant present. I used to love my swing as a child in the 1950's. Have a simply amazing birthday and enjoy every single minute :) xx
ReplyDeleteThank you. xx
DeleteHappy Birthday Sue!
ReplyDeleteThank you. xx
DeleteHappy birthday Sue! Alan's gift is brilliant, I absolutely love swings. Have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteThank you. xx I love them too :-)
DeleteHappy birthday Sue! When my mother was poorly when I was a 4 year old my big brother made me an indoor swing to keep me occupied. I'm sure you'll have as much fun on yours as I did on mine and my big brother went on to do his carpentry apprenticeship after leaving school and became a joiner and shopfitter, which job he did until his retirement a few years ago. My hubby is 60 this year too!
ReplyDeleteThank you. xx Perhaps your brother could make you a swing!!
DeleteHe and his wife are now isolating at home in North Wales believe it or not. Maybe I'll ask him when he's allowed out again! Did you eat so much chocolate that you resembled the nun in Father Ted? You're allowed to on your birthday after all! Take care and stay safe!
DeleteI was very restrained actually ... although somebody not very far away from me at the moment ate 4 yes FOUR Mr Kipling Cherry Bakewells!!
DeleteLol, I too have a sweet-toothed hubby! So pleased you managed to enjoy your special birthday!
DeleteHappy Birthday :)
ReplyDeleteNow you can apply for your bus pass :)
Enjoy your swinging :)
Thank you. I know ... I even checked up on my pension earlier, but I have another 6 years yet :-(
DeleteLook on the bright side Sue, I've got another 12 years to go!
DeleteFabulous gift! Happy Birthday and I hope you have a wonderful day! Lynne
ReplyDeleteThank you. xx

ReplyDeleteHere is a birthday song for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GBO36wkGsc
Have a great day!
Brilliant, I did a bit of Dad Dancing to that one :-)
DeleteThank you xx
Have a very Happy Birthday xx
ReplyDeleteThank you. xx
DeleteHappy Birthday, and what a lovely gift. I love to swing and have often had one in my yard or on my porch...I had my 70th Birthday last May and I was happy to have made it this far and to be relatively healthy. I can't think of a better way to celebrate than wine and chocolate.
ReplyDeleteMama Bear
Thank you. All I need now is a house with a porch :-)
DeleteA very happy birthday - and enjoy that wonderful present!
ReplyDeleteThank you, I will. xx
DeleteAmazing present wish I’d thought of something like that
ReplyDeleteYou can buy swings on Amazon ;-)

ReplyDeleteThank you. Xx
DeleteHappy Birthday Sue - oh to be 60 again. Love the swing and the view. With the lockdown I have just taken up skipping again but a swing would be good.
ReplyDeleteThank uou. Ooh a bit of extra blue rope and I could skip too 😄
DeleteHappy Birthday Sue. Enjoy the swing and the view. It is absolutely breath taking.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Thank you. Xx
DeleteI did spend a few hours swinging yesterday on and off while I chatted on the phone whilst admiring the view ... multitasking at it's best 😄
Happy birthday - what a great present!
DeleteThank you. xx
DeleteMany happy returns Sue on your 60th birthday - Sounds like you have the perfect day planned. I like the idea of the afternoon wine. Might have one (or two or three) with you to celebrate your birthday. Hope you enjoy your swing - what a marvellous idea and birthday present!! Best wishes.
ReplyDeleteThank you Louise. It was a lovely day, I hope you did join in. :-)
DeleteA swing with a view, what gift could be better! You are a youngster, my birthday is in a few days but years before yours. Happy Swinging 60.
