My Swinging Sixties

It's here the BIG day in all senses of the word ... I'm 60.

Born in 1960 and reaching 60  has a nice ring about it and I'm not bothered by the changing of the decades.  Joining Alan in our 60's hold no worries for me ... although for a while I thought it might.

Are you all wondering about my homemade present from Alan as mentioned in yesterday's post.

Well what do you need when you're heralding in your swinging sixties ...

... of course you need a swing!!

The view from the back is not very appealing but the view from the front is amazing, and the good thing is because of the garage overhang I can even swing on a rainy day.

Here's to my Swinging Sixties  💚

Now I'm off to watch afternoon television, drink afternoon wine, eat afternoon chocolate and generally just have the laziest birthday ever!!

I hope your day is as good.

Sue xx

    1. Haha ... he's no angel or perfect husband.

I told him exactly what I wanted, where it could go and how it could be done. I even Googled photos online and printed them out to show him what I meant. He found the wood, cut it to size and added some of his rope. Luckily as an ex-sailor he knows his knots so I should be safe.

Thanks for your birthday wishes. xx

    1. You did!!

The only thing is all our trees are so high up on the hillside and so inaccessible AND so tall, that it had to be a garage swing and not a tree swing ;-)

    1. Thinking about it a few years ago I would be qualifying for my pension now wouldn't I. I have to wait until I'm 66 now unfortunately. But perhaps I'll resign from my company and live on my savings :-)

  8. I knew it was a swing! Enjoy - the simple pleasures are the best. I can remember going so high on the ones in the Rec and there would be that stomach-turning moment when you had overstretched it and it would suddenly lurch and you would remember the children who were supposed to have looped-the-loop. Hmmm. Tall tales I think!

    Have a lovely Birthday.

I guess neither of us are celebrating our 60th this year quite the way we might have intended, but I hope you can find lots of joy, today and always.

    1. Thank you, definitely a different sort of celebration this year, no doggy walk on the prom followed by chips from the chippy shared with the dogs.

  14. Happy Birthday. I too am 60 next month. I always felt being born in 1960 meant it was so easy to remember which birthday we are on.

    1. It really does help with remembering ages doesn't it. My Dad was born in 1930, my Mum in 1940 and then me in 1960. My son went and spoilt it by being born in 1981, and then his first son in 1999 ... it's all gone to pot now I have to do maths!!

  24. Happy birthday Sue! When my mother was poorly when I was a 4 year old my big brother made me an indoor swing to keep me occupied. I'm sure you'll have as much fun on yours as I did on mine and my big brother went on to do his carpentry apprenticeship after leaving school and became a joiner and shopfitter, which job he did until his retirement a few years ago. My hubby is 60 this year too!

  31. Happy Birthday, and what a lovely gift. I love to swing and have often had one in my yard or on my porch...I had my 70th Birthday last May and I was happy to have made it this far and to be relatively healthy. I can't think of a better way to celebrate than wine and chocolate.
