I thought I was doing ok until I went shopping today. Checked out the car parks in two supermarkets and decided they were far too busy (husband is high risk so I need to shop somewhere fairly quiet in case I catch anything). So, I went to a quieter shop only to get held up in a queue of people waiting to get past a shop assistant blocking an aisle chatting to a couple of customers. I politely asked if it was ok to go past and got my head snapped off! Felt like bursting into tears and dumping the trolley and leaving but realised I would just have to shop elsewhere. This isn't like me! I think that most of us have coped well but the stress and fatigue of doing normal everyday things has built up and is very tiring.
I have literally not left the house (and garden) apart from one short walk with Percy (my Rollator) round the block for the last five weeks. I have my Tesco order delivered and a kind young lady collects my medication from the chemist. At my age I am at risk. But cabin fever does hover on the periphery.
I bet it does. Like you my mum is very sociable so it's very difficult. You are very tech savvy though and she is not, but she does spend a lot of time on the telephone. Stay safe!
I’m ok and keeping my mum supplied with shopping and as connected as possible in between doing my job. Like most NHS staff I’m keeping calm and carrying on. There’s a job to be done. I suspect I’ll need a holiday at the end of it all though. My self employed husband’s income evaporated overnight so we are barely scraping by but as long as I can keep everyone fed and ok then I’m very grateful. There are folk in a worse position than I. Take care everyone and stay safe and most importantly STAY HOME!
My husband was in hospital for 5 weeks last year including cardio critical care, intensive care and high dependency and I thought the NHS staff were absolutely wonderful.
Thankyou Suky, this definitely applies to me at the moment. xx
